Four years of study experience in the Academy of Fine Arts has cultivated ZhiFang's strong research ability and solid skill foundation. However, in the face of the obvious differences in overseas education modes, there is still a lack of "routines" to change thinking. A small problem originating from oneself has caused concern about the "psychological disease" in modern society. Graphic design is used to break the boundaries and strongly respond to the social patterned aesthetic, Take the initiative to assume the sense of social responsibility given by the designer's identity, the "perfectionism" of unexpected fit between teachers and students, adhere to the ultimate pursuit of technology and materials, and with the help of the dream of natural light, punch in the personal exhibition, which was recognized by four famous schools!

1. An inspiration from "eating and broadcasting"

Case of Graphic Design Works Collection ZhiFang studied in Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. Four years of graphic design learning experience has accumulated a solid foundation for design, and has also cultivated a proactive and diligent learning habit. What's more surprising to teachers is that ZhiFang has the research ability that foreign universities attach great importance to.

With this inquisitive spirit, ZhiFang starts from his own life habits to find Inspiration of Works Collection Zhifang usually has the habit of watching "eating and broadcasting" to satisfy his cravings, and also learned that the rise of eating and broadcasting is largely due to the fact that many people suppress their appetite in daily life and release pressure by watching eating and broadcasting.

The social pressure behind this entertainment has also aroused the interest of ZhiFang. After investigation, she found that in the current aesthetic environment of taking thinness as beauty, many young people are suffering from serious psychological pressure and even diseases of different degrees every year because of their excessive pursuit of perfect body shape.

One of the psychological diseases, called "eating disorder", has gradually come into public view and caused great harm to the patient's body, even death. Zhifang is very impressed with this, and wants to make people realize the harm of this disease through design, and trigger the society's thinking about aesthetic diversity.

This is also the first project of Zhifang's work collection. When she came to the natural light for the first class, Zhifang took out a thick and very detailed survey. But when the teacher asked about the subsequent creation form and performance effect, Zhifang was lost.

2. Beauty is diversified, and plane is also more than "plane"

After several discussions with the teacher, and considering Zhifang's solid professional foundation, it was finally decided to make a group of comprehensive graphic design through books, posters, and some derivative packaging designs, so that the public can understand the development process of the disease, play a role in publicity and alertness, and help potential patients to a certain extent.

After refining the research, we initially determined the design scheme of three books, and introduced the whole process of eating disorders from the beginning of illness to the aggravation of illness in stages. In the text, we also selected some patients' diaries, and from their perspective, we showed some self-report and psychological activities to the audience.

Zhifang chose the colorful food [purple cabbage] as the cover of the three books in the design of visual theme. Typesetting mainly uses words as the main element. From the first book to the third book, words are processed from clear to confused, aiming to reflect the process of disease development.

After Zhifang finished the typesetting of the first edition of the book, the teacher found that the overall design still had the problem of weak sense of text hierarchy, lack of focus on the screen, and the sense of series of the three books was not visually separated.

For the problems, the teacher also gave suggestions one by one. First, the text content was properly simplified, and visual elements and colors were used to enhance contrast; Secondly, use the form and meaning of the English font itself, and integrate emotional propositions to emphasize the development of the story.

After constant modification, Zhifang gradually found different styles for the three books, and tried to find innovative points in technology and materials to open the gap.

3. "Perfectionism" teachers and students alliance, each link should strive for refinement

At the beginning of the second book, ZhiFang wanted to use transparent film, a special material, to separate the page into three layers, and superimpose colored words and pictures on the gray bottom map, symbolizing the patient's contradictory spirit and psychological activities.

However, because of the particularity of film materials, there are many uncontrollable factors for the display of color and the bonding of pictures, but teachers and students seem to have a [perfectionism] insistence. After many failures, they finally achieved the desired results.

　　 Book Design for Studying Abroad The next step is to design the overall poster. This is also one of the biggest difficulties in the whole project. After discussion, the theme of the poster was determined: Food Can't Fill the Hole, and we hope to use the familiar living objects of patients with "eating disorders" to express this theme.

But what kind of object has the pun effect? The image of the toilet has been selected. However, how to deal with this unattractive object so that it can not only convey meaning but also visually reflect beauty is a problem for ZhiFang.

For this reason, ZhiFang and his teacher checked the works of many artists, looked for inspiration from different artistic creation methods, spent a lot of time in various experiments, constantly overturned and re started, and finally chose to use intuitive [photography] to express the most direct conflict.

4. Achieve the landing goal, at the Natural Light GET Personal Works Exhibition

ZhiFang and his teacher were very satisfied with the effect of this set of works after completion. In order to better show this hard won project work, and also to fulfill the wishes of ZhiFang's classmates, natural light planned a small personal exhibition for ZhiFang.

ZhiFang was very surprised when she learned about it. She immediately planned the final exhibition arrangement with the teacher. In order to meet the goal of the theme, she decided to arrange the booth as a small table, prepare plates, knives and forks, and cutting boards. She put three books on the plates and cutting boards, and hung some rulers around them. The back of the ruler was printed with the website where the disease can be helped.

After detailed planning and careful preparation, ZhiFang, a case of graphic design works collection, and his teacher spent an afternoon in setting up a small exhibition area and shooting area in the natural light campus. This project could be perfectly implemented and included in the works collection with a very complete and unique creation process, winning the recognition of the university.

In her learning process, there are also some common problems, such as the differences between Chinese and foreign art learning methods, the use of materials and technology, the integration of innovation, etc., including the creation method of "big proposition and small details" that I have always emphasized.
