Industrial design is based on the needs of users, through logical analysis and perceptual intuition, to find the most reasonable and suitable solution for specific scenarios. As far as mass produced industrial products are concerned, it is called industrial design to endow them with new quality and qualification in terms of materials, structure, shape, color, surface processing and decoration by virtue of training, technology, experience and visual perception. Industrial design in a narrow sense is product design. It is a major with high requirements for students' overall ability, including research logic, design thinking, product hand drawing ability, modeling, rendering and post production of products, as well as production of physical models.
Industrial design covers a wide range of areas and directions. A few colleges and universities will have specific directions. Foreign students of product/industrial design can choose the direction of transportation, furniture, electronic products, FMCG and even product packaging according to their own preferences when they are employed. In addition, many people will also choose the direction of user research.
Introduction to industrial design, history of industrial design, three major components, product design hand drawing, industrial design psychology, design research, ergonomics, product design materials, bionic and sustainable design, computer-aided industrial design, etc.
Industrial design is product design in a narrow sense. Foreign students need to master comprehensive abilities including design research, product hand drawing, product modeling/rendering, product display, physical production, etc. Foreign schools pay more attention to research and idea.
