Undergraduate major

Pure art major

We live in an age when the purpose and meaning of art are often challenged. The globalization of visual culture and values are often contradictory. The constant advancement of technology, the accelerated pace of change and new art forms are gradually breaking the boundaries between media, design, film and entertainment.

Meaningful art education must provide more rich understanding, not just the victory of art in the past. It must have insight into the new values and artistic creation of this generation. At the same time, it should cultivate people with the spirit of reflection and innovation. The art that art majors perceive is not only an expressive pursuit, but also an innovative thinking that can be brought by professionals.

They teach students to do valuable things well. Excellent teachers, including accomplished artists and scholars, share their opinions and knowledge with students at any time. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most important and innovative design schools. Students have leading designs, advanced industrial stores, cutting-edge computer laboratories, etc., as well as huge art libraries and conference rooms that are usually not open to students.

Graphic Design

Graphic design learning pays attention to living and meaningful words and images, which is reflected in the creation of dynamic graphics on the latest digital equipment or the setting of the hand shape of the relief printing workshop.

Graphic design majors will start with design principles, such as aesthetics and technology. Graduates of this major can focus on a single graphic design field and continue to explore and give full play to their design talents. Graduates have won awards in top competitions in many countries to verify the feasibility of this education method.

Traditional handicrafts, such as hand lettering and drawing and complex graphic software, are part of the tools used by today's graphic designers. The challenge for students is to develop design solutions and try to cooperate with various media, including product packaging, books and magazines.

Through interdisciplinary workshops and the Designmatters project on behalf of humanitarian organizations, students can fully apply their skills for commercial and non-profit purposes, and can also cooperate with students in other majors. For example, students have recently designed new programs for NASA, and become outstanding young people engaged in film, printing, environmental protection "intervention" and interactive solutions.

Graphic design education is a supplement to the history and popular culture of design, moving images of language and design research courses. Create innovative, coherent, artistic and attractive solutions. Through continuous learning, students become design leaders, and make full preparations for their future participation in the established company or launching their own studio.

Advertising

In the past decade, advertising has changed from one-way communication through a dedicated media platform to two-way communication.

The advertising method may be changing, and the unchanged brand needs to contact the audience's understanding of basic human rights. Advertising students have the knowledge of traditional advertising forms, and learn the latest knowledge and creative problem-solving methods in the field of new media.

In the basic category, students become proficient in advertising language, including film, online video, digital photography, graphic and interactive design, social media, etc. In the following courses, students use the skills they have learned to produce advertisements and integrate traditional and non-traditional media to create powerful forms of communication.

Founded in 1930, advertising is one of the oldest majors in the United States. Alumni are a group of the best and brightest talents in the industry. Students work with product designers, film producers, and interaction designers to develop new ways of thinking and explore how to fully use these disciplines to stimulate each other.

Film major

In the rapidly changing entertainment industry, emerging film producers must be bold, dedicated and entrepreneurial. First, they must be visual narrators.

There are many top film makers in the industry in the teaching team. In addition, students can use the latest digital post production tools for post processing. The class size is very small. At the end of the course, the relationship between the instructor and students is very harmonious.

Whether students continue to work in studios or work independently in emerging media, film majors can enable them to have a thorough understanding of the entire film production process, so that they can acquire skills and confidence.

Illustration

Illustration is an art form in the 21st century. It connects fashion and animated movies, retail environment and computer games, politics, editorials and street art, books and children's toys.

Illustration has the ability to explain the definition of society, unique political and cultural concepts, making it an ideal solution for advertising, publishing, animation functions, licensing, retail and editing projects. To succeed in these fields, illustrators need not only to master painting skills, but also to have an understanding and concept of the impact of illustration on contemporary culture.

Illustration majors emphasize the matching of painting skills, painting, perspective, color theory and concept history, art, popular culture and ideological education. After comprehensive basic courses, excellent students choose a specific career that is most suitable for them and develop it into a key field of their career.

Photography and Imaging

It is estimated that more than 3 million photos and photographic clips are taken every day around the world, and these information plays an ubiquitous role in our culture. However, although almost everyone can take photos, few people can achieve great photography.

The Photography and Imaging Department helps photographers acquire skills and creativity. Creating a resonant visual document is not just a negotiation of production. Excellent images can travel through time and space without losing their meaning, whether they are displayed on a mobile phone or on the side of a building.

In addition to concept learning, students also study technology, art, history and advertising, as well as business planning, brand and marketing courses. Students can become partners with other professional peers through individual projects and interdisciplinary workshops sponsored by enterprises. Photography and video students can also participate in the Designmatters project with humanitarian organizations.

Our country's artistic traditions and digital laboratories support a variety of photographic processes. Students are constantly changing in photography technology, including the way the image is captured, strengthening and distribution. The project also analyzes issues such as copyright and originality of digital technology.

The college has the most advanced research laboratory in the country, and teachers will teach the most advanced research method - the research method of color gain design.

Transportation Design

Designing a car is a team effort, and students have the opportunity to work with colleagues outside the discipline through interdisciplinary workshops. In addition, there are many advanced automobile design studios and companies with obvious advantages in emerging fields and alternative energy. The school employs many professional designers as part-time teachers or guests, and students have the opportunity to practice in these companies.

Transportation design has rich experience, so the students cultivated in this major can be engaged in motorcycle, ship, aircraft, commercial transportation, private car, public transport design, car interior and other fields. By exploring the balance between form and function, you can create a concept car with distinctive personality, while improving functionality and broad influence.

Interaction Design

Interaction design is all around us - from mobile phone applications to wearable technology, games, web pages, social networking sites, art installations and public spaces. If you are keen on designing practical, innovative and exciting interactive works, there is no better choice than to study here.

Although this is a new subject, the school has a rich history in cross plane, transportation, entertainment, industrial and media interaction design. Graduates have their own places in large companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft and IDEO.

The course emphasizes core methods, tools and production process, which will enable you to better understand user experience, innovate application technologies and discover new ways of interaction and design.

Of course, interaction design is not just about technology. After all, people's communication with objects and systems is based on human nature. In the course, you will focus on user experience and learning how people think, feel and act when using products, environments and systems. Combining human factors, technology and psychology, your design products will be able to affect people's living conditions more deeply.

Entertainment Design

Entertainment design is telling stories. Storytellers reproduce stories by designing characters and environments in novels. This requires you to have rich imagination while knowing how to create things, concretizing and content the existing story outline.

Entertainment design is divided into two directions: content design and character animation. Although many courses are in both directions, students still have to choose one to study.

Content design

Content artists create the visual scenes we see in movies, games, animations, advertisements, TV dramas and theme parks. From environment, architecture to roles and vehicles, they are all within the scope of design.

Character animation

Qiu character animation has officially become a branch of the discipline, and has carried out close cooperation with industry experts. Students will focus on the details, characteristics and overall performance, and present the shaping role in the story.

Postgraduate major

Pure Art (Master of Aesthetics)

Teaching is mostly composed of one-on-one meetings between students and teachers. Their full-time teacher is the core teacher of seven artists, including the dean of the department, three theorists and two artists. In addition, there are about 20 artists, critics and theorists as part-time teachers. Students must have a core tutor to grade their work and give advice and guidance in the first four semesters. In the last two semesters, three core tutors and the staff elected by the students scored the students' scores together.

All disciplines have no boundaries here. Students of all majors can cooperate with teachers to make ideas flourish and provide an unparalleled creative environment for producers. The goal is to create an environment where you can create and experiment freely.

Media Design (Master of Aesthetics)

The program offers two-year or three-year master's programs to help students become ambitious designers and help cultivate design leaders and researchers in emerging fields from various backgrounds. Two disciplines are provided: Media Design Project (MDP) and Media Design Matters (MDM). In the media design project, track the design used by students working in the studio, and solve the problems caused by emerging communication technologies and cultural customs.

In media design, students work in an environment where social issues, media infrastructure and communication technologies intersect. Students are taught by core teachers composed of experts in the fields of design, computing and citizen media, media design, interaction design, graphic design, anthropology and social justice, and architecture. The challenge they face is for students to design new media in the context of cultural and technological change. Graduates have good flexibility and skills to diversify their designs.

Industrial Design (Master of Science)

The course will help to change the thinking of the automotive industry and the broader field of transportation and personal mobility. The specialty will provide choice of direction: vehicle track and track of transportation system. Vehicle tracks are designed for those who wish to enter or re-enter the automotive industry.

The track of the transportation system will be to create better transportation solutions for those who use design and system thinking at the system level, rather than at the product level. More and more enterprises and industries believe that the important value brought by designers far exceeds the development of products and services. Therefore, the design method, curriculum structure, strategic innovation and systematic thinking of the two tracks of this major are the combination of customer driven research and excellent communication skills. This combination, together with professional knowledge and understanding in their respective fields, will turn graduates of equipment into change promoters and lead the vanguard in a wide range of transportation landscapes.

Transportation Design (Bachelor of Science)

Students majoring in transportation will change the automation industry and transportation industry. This major has two directions: the direction of motor vehicle track and the direction of transportation system track. The motor vehicle track direction mainly trains professionals working creatively in the motor vehicle manufacturing industry; The track direction of the transportation system mainly trains professionals with creativity and systematic thinking who can optimize the transportation system.

Environmental Design

It emphasizes the relationship between human, material, space and emotion. The specialty not only focuses on the appearance of design, but also advocates better design of psychology, physics, emotion and perception effect. Through interdisciplinary exploration to obtain creative design, environmental designers are people who seek opportunities in the creative process. Our goal is to cultivate leaders in the field of design, and the graduates of the school are in a leading position in the fields of subject knowledge and design technology.
