Illustration and Animation
3-year program, the purpose of this course is to develop students' creative processing methods for image printing for communication purposes, as well as interaction with dynamic images. Graduates from this course can be widely recognized internationally, and have won many awards in illustration and animation.
Students will study mainly three years of studio based illustration and animation courses. The study and research of the studio is composed of history and environment study, professional and professional practice lectures and seminars.
Photography
For 3-year program, if students want to explore the processing method of photography, or are interested in the potential impact of photography on art, then this course is your ideal choice. You will explore and develop various skills and abilities needed, such as advertising, architecture, documentary, fashion, contemporary art, interior design, publishing and tourism photography.
Through a series of assigned and self initiated project courses, students will develop their creativity and skills. Through the process of study and work, students will become more and more able to study and work independently, and students will have the opportunity to work creatively with students from other art and design colleges. The basic module will cover the key and historical background of photography as well as practical exercises. In addition, the employment oriented module will emphasize professional development opportunities in the entire creative industry.
Students will also have the opportunity to consolidate their understanding of contemporary photography through a series of guest tutors' lectures and coaching, and get feedback in professional practice.
Fashion
Three years full-time, fashion is a fascinating and complex issue, and an expression of people's feelings and thinking. It represents evolution and radical change; It mixes design, marketing, media and business with social, historical, economic and political influences. People working in fashion circles are barometers of their times, predicting and driving changes.
The course covers all aspects of the design process, from research and design development to garment tailoring and construction. The course also includes studio based courses such as art and design history and overseas study tours.
Interior Design
The interior design of Kingston University is closely related to the common space of human living, and involves the close interaction between housing design and people who need to use their space, including residence. This often requires the reconstruction, utilization and re creation of various spaces in existing buildings, including airports, hospitals, hotels, shops, restaurants, leisure centers and workplaces.
Pure Art and Art History
For 3-year program, this major focuses on teaching combining pure art and art history courses. The course covers the history of painting, sculpture, design, architecture, film and photography.
In the first year, students practice in the studio and begin to plan their future art work. The instructor will plan their learning plans. Students will learn the theoretical knowledge of visual and live art, and the theory of current art practice. The course format includes lectures, case studies and visits to important exhibitions in London.
The next year, the student union continued to carry out studio courses, as well as teaching guidance, participation in seminars, lectures, etc. Students will complete about 6000 words of papers by the end of next semester. Students can choose the fields of interest and research projects.
In the third year, students mainly study work production and personal project research. In this year, students need to complete their dissertations and graduation works exhibitions.
Architecture
The core of Kingston Architecture is design. As a college based on art and architecture, the spirit of our curriculum is to think through production. This course has passed the certification of RIBA and ARB. After completing this degree, you will automatically be exempted from the first part of the RIBA exam, which will be your first step in your career as a professional architect. This course can also serve as your first degree, so that you can continue to study in other fields in the future.
In Kingston, architecture is a practice of materials, a bold attempt to build buildings and use various components to reflect architectural characteristics. Our studio project can account for 50% of the whole course every year. This project can improve your skills and knowledge reserves and help you better solve the design problems in the architectural environment. The studio professors include pencil, charcoal drawing, modeling, computer drawing, CAD drawing and other painting and production skills, as well as research and discussion on theory, culture, history, society, sustainable development, material and technical issues.
Film Production
This course will take you to explore the media of film, impart professional skills in this field and help you develop your own film production practice. Graphic Design
In the course of Graphic Design Major of Kingston University, you will become a "design communicator who brings breakthrough changes". You should be innovative, creative and stimulate change. Whether you choose to increase your knowledge or take this field as a career, you will have a collection of works with distinctive personal color to reflect your learning achievements.
Our curriculum philosophy is to use the open mode, perfect industrial chain and existing projects to study what design does and how to do it. "Studio culture" is the key driving force of this model. We use the existing studio space and facilities to test and explore new ways to promote the boundaries of visual communication.
Product and Furniture Design
This course focuses on cultivating creative professional practice, technical knowledge and necessary knowledge in product and furniture design. The top priority is to harvest and learn the creativity, intelligence and sustainable application in emerging materials, technology and processes.
Your experience focuses on the development of "intelligent technology". This course emphasizes that practical knowledge and understanding come directly from the experience of using materials and technology in the environment. You will gradually become sensitive to the physical properties of materials, as well as the sustainable potential and appropriate application of these materials. You will also gradually realize the importance of the role of designer and the potential influence of design in social, political, environmental and economic fields.
TV and Video Technology
Three year full-time, four year system (one year is a four year system of paid internship or the first year is a four year system of basic courses), and part-time six year system.
This major focuses on teaching students the basic and creative technologies of video, audio and radio used in the film and television industry. The main courses include process technology, camera and audio use and post production technology.
The College is a member of the Television Photographers Association (GTC) and the Television Lighting Directors Association (STLD).
In the first year, students will lay a solid foundation in science, mathematics, design and electronics related fields. In the first year, the course content covers the learning course of static and dynamic image processing using two-dimensional imaging software and professional video editing package.
In the second year, students will learn the working practice and theoretical knowledge of TV cameras and begin studio practice courses. Students learn broadcasting technology and science, and understand broadcasting analog and digital electronic products.
In the third year, a quarter of the course time is devoted to specialized students to carry out their own project research. Students show their skills to shoot and produce, and begin to focus on a field, such as lighting, cameras, directors, sound, graphics or other production skills, which will help students choose the industry to work in.
