Clothing and Textile Design

The Master of Fashion and Textile Design course of Glasgow Academy of Arts imparts advanced fashion design skills. This course is intended for undergraduates majoring in fashion and textile design who are enthusiastic and motivated and intend to expand, develop and hone their personal fashion design skills.

The course accepts two different types of fashion design students, both of whom have their own unique design methods. One is called "textile" students, whose design method mainly considers external materials. The other is called "contour" students, whose design method focuses on internal molding. Textile oriented fashion designers pay more attention to the surface (printing, embroidery, decoration) and structure (weaving, knitting) of clothing fabrics, and they are more inclined to two-dimensional thinking when designing. However, contour (plastic) oriented designers pay more attention to the shape, tailoring, shape and combination of clothes, and they tend to think three-dimensional when designing.

The difference between these two designers is just like the difference between the Alain knitted pullover and the customized jacket in daily life. The decorative effect of an Alain knitted pullover (dominated by textiles) comes from the knitting thread and structure. Fabrics and garments are designed at the same time during production. A customized jacket is dominated by its shape, tailoring, shape and combination. When making, materials and clothes are designed separately. The special advantage of clothing and textile design is the combination of written design and design practice. All written design assignments of trainees must be combined with actual design works. The course is in line with the open teaching purpose of the college: to cultivate master graduates who are confident, enthusiastic and able to develop smoothly in their chosen fields. To ensure that the school and master's graduates are in a leading position in the international, national and urban cultural, economic, social and educational circles. The course keeps close contact with some advanced textile research centers, and combines the research strategies of the college for teaching.

Animation Sound Design

The Master of Animation Sound Effect Design provides a good academic practice platform for students to participate in the substantive operation and creativity of sound effect production. Sound effect production is widely used in film, animation, television, new media, electronic games and visual arts. These media are also academic research projects that students must master when entering the field of animation sound effect design. This course can effectively stimulate the students' motivation to create original works, and through individual and group cooperation, research and create sound effect design products that are novel in concept, meet aesthetic appreciation requirements, and have the most practical value.

This course will teach students comprehensive professional knowledge and skills through a series of studio practice projects, elective subjects, academic lectures, seminars and independent learning of students. The focus of teaching is the combination of theoretical research and creative practice. The two complement each other, So that students can create the most suitable sound effect design works in the established visual environment. Pure Art Major This course is a two-year multidisciplinary course. The two-year study course provides students with a valuable opportunity to deeply summarize their practical experience in the art studio, and to make a reasonable revision and development of these practical experiences. The multi-disciplinary characteristics of the curriculum ensure the balanced development of students in academic practice.
