The Northern Royal Conservatory of Music is one of the four major conservatories in the UK. The college has unique interview requirements for undergraduate and graduate students. The interview requirements of the Northern Royal Conservatory of Music are as follows:
Examination requirements
*Except for the major of composition, all applicants must attend the on-site interview and examination.
The examination includes on-site professional assessment and subsequent simple interview. The requirements for professional assessment are as follows:
Piano major
Undergraduate candidates must play three tunes of different ages and styles (about 15 minutes), at least one of which must be played by memory.
Postgraduate candidates must prepare about 40 minutes of songs with different styles. The examiner will choose a track of about 15 minutes for you to play. Except for works after 1945, all music must be played by memory.

Major other than piano
Candidates must play two pieces of works of different styles (about 15 minutes), such as works of different periods (classical, romantic or modern), followed by a simple interview. The interview may include sight reading or singing.
Accompaniment included.
Other requirements
Candidates should provide proof of their English proficiency during the interview, and provide the final IELTS scores or other officially recognized English test scores before May 1. See the following for specific English entry requirements.
The purpose of the English proficiency certification during the interview is to understand the general English proficiency of the candidates, which has no impact on the professional examination. The final English score shall be subject to the score submitted before May 1.

Degree requirements:
Four year Bachelor of Music (undergraduate BMus):
Performance (string music, brass woodwind, percussion, keyboard, harp, etc.)/composition/vocal music majors must be at least 18 years old before December 31 of the year of enrollment and must obtain a high school diploma or above before enrollment
IELTS score requirements:
5.5 points, and each score shall not be lower than 5.5 points.
One year Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip)/One or Two year Master Degree (MMus):
Solo (string music, brass woodwind, percussion, keyboard, harp, etc.)/composition/vocal music/orchestral music major must obtain a bachelor's degree or above before entering school
IELTS score requirements:
The score of Master of Performing Arts is 5.5, and that of Master of Music in one year or two years is 6.0, and the score of each item cannot be lower than 5.5.
All master candidates must submit a 1000 word English essay for academic assessment.
In addition, the doctor's score is 7.0, and each score cannot be lower than 7.0.

RNCM English Summer School
In order to further help Chinese students improve their English ability, RNCM College has also opened summer English classes. The purpose of the course is to help students obtain admission to RNCM College. The course starts at the end of July and lasts for six weeks. It aims to improve students' listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities, and introduce the national profile and culture of Britain.
The entry requirements for English classes are as follows:
Bachelor of Music (BMus): IELTS 5.0
Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip): IELTS 6.0
Master degree (MMus): Master students who do not meet the entrance requirements in English can also apply, but the results will be determined according to the specific circumstances of the candidates.

For candidates with excellent or potential results in the interview, our school provides a certain number of scholarships. Scholarships range from £ 1000 to full tuition free.
Art study abroad Students can also apply for financial aid to subsidize tuition and daily consumption. However, the number of such grants is limited, which is usually determined according to the needs of examinees and the specific situation of scholarship funds. Students who receive such grants must participate in a series of work study programs offered by RNCM.
In addition, according to the recommendation of the Northern Royal Conservatory of Music, the Royal Conservatory Association of Music provides international students with undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships every year. This scholarship includes all the tuition fees and part of the living expenses during the study period of undergraduate courses or graduate and master courses (one or two years).
