There are a large number of buildings in modern urban space, and hard roofs can not let rainwater naturally infiltrate, affecting the water circulation of the natural system. However, most of the roofs of urban buildings are idle, providing the possibility for landscape design. So how to collect, filter and use rainwater? Integrate the ideas of the sky into a practical rainwater collection system? Create the most creative green roof landscape design? Overseas tutorship in landscape design: the first topic of STUDIO 2 water and rain flood management project, green roof.

Master of Landscape Architecture, Texas A&M University
Used to be landscape architect of Southwest China Architectural Design and Research Institute
Mr. Chen in America Texas A&M University (Texas A&M University) obtained a master's degree in landscape architecture, a certificate of sustainable urbanism, and a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Huazhong Agricultural University. Interned and worked in EDSA and TBG, a famous landscape planning and design company in the United States. After returning to China, he worked in Southwest China Architectural Design and Research Institute. There are dozens of landscape design projects in rural landscape planning, resort hotels, municipal parks, residential areas and commercial office areas at home and abroad.
Currently, he works in Chengdu undergraduate colleges and universities as a full-time teacher of landscape architecture, engaged in landscape planning and design and related teaching and research. The rich work experience at home and abroad as well as undergraduate teaching experience will help guide students to explore and learn by themselves, integrate theory with practice, transform the ideas of flying from sky to sky into practical design schemes, improve the professionalism of overseas collections, and enhance their competitiveness in the process of applying to the world's top design colleges.
Green roof landscape design Project Background
There are a lot of buildings in modern urban space, and the hard roof can not let rainwater naturally seep, which affects the water circulation of the natural system. At the same time, the reflection of the building roof causes the solar energy to be reflected back into the atmosphere, exacerbating the urban heat island effect. Most of the roofs of urban buildings are idle, providing the possibility for landscape design.
The project is located on the roof of the teaching building of a university in Chengdu, with an area of more than 600 square meters. It is idle and rarely receives attention from teachers and students. This project focuses on how to activate space vitality, meet certain ecological functions, optimize urban environment, and take other green roof designs as examples.
Project site location
The roof of a teaching building in a university has a total area of 656 square meters, including the cloister and the communication space outside the toilet.

The purpose of the overseas tutorship course of landscape design:
During the teaching process, students will be trained to have the basic analysis ability on the natural conditions of the site, the needs of users and other basic site conditions, deepen their understanding of storm flood management, and be familiar with the basic process of analysis, design and mapping. Improve the perception and design ability of small space while drawing by hand and using computer.
Design content:
Carry out site survey, collect site data, analyze, find out the characteristics and problems of the site, determine the theme, and design the site based on the concept and method of rainwater collection and management to create a creative and distinctive green roof.
