Built in 1890 Wimbledon College of the Arts Wimbledon College of Art, one of the major art colleges in London, moved to its current location: Merton Hall Road, Wimbledon Town, south London in 1940. Wimbledon Art School was incorporated into London University of the Arts on August 1, 2006, becoming the sixth college of the university and renamed Wimbledon College of Art.


Wimbledon College of the Arts offers both full-time and part-time preparatory courses. In summer, there is a six week adaptation course for overseas students, which serves as a guide to advance into preparatory courses. The preparatory course is a one-year diagnostic full-time course for students, which introduces such majors as graphic design, theater design, fashion design, aesthetic art, fashion and textiles, and three-dimensional design including ceramic art. The preparatory courses have a high success rate when students apply for higher education courses. Preparatory courses teach art and design, and provide workshops and seminars.


The college offers full-time undergraduate degree courses in theater and aesthetic arts, including theater design, costume design, costume art processing, industrial art design, arts and crafts exposition, artistic painting and sculpture. Postgraduate courses include Master of Arts in aesthetic art painting, painting, printmaking and sculpture, Master of Arts in theatre: visual language courses in performance, and Master of Arts courses in art and performance theory. Introduction to Art Design:


Six weeks, generally from the first ten days of July to the middle of August, the tuition is 2100 to 2200 pounds.

Through the study of introductory courses, your portfolio will be better developed, laying a solid foundation for the preparatory stage of learning.

Art and Design Foundation:

Printing and Streaming Media


The three-year system starts from the end of the preparatory course, usually in September, and the tuition is 13800 pounds per year.

The major of printing and streaming media supports the contemporary art practice of widely applied technologies, including video, animation, digital photography, audio equipment, as well as the simulation process of movies (super 8 and 16 mm), prints and versions. The course structure is dominated by group discussions and informal debates. Students are encouraged to explore gallery based practices and integrated installations, artist publications, live art, screening, broadcasting and websites. Special emphasis is placed on the practice between still and moving images, the different strategies for publishing works of art, and the absorption of technology from "popular" and "top" cultures.

The student union often participates in film project cooperation, produces a collection of printed works and displays their works in screening or other activities.

Oil painting

Drama Costume Communication

Drama Costume Communication is designed for students who want to become drama costume managers and costume producers of theaters, movies and television in the future. Although you will also develop your own garment production skills, your focus is still on analyzing other people's design works. You will be involved in many drama design projects, and will continue to learn in your internship. At the same time, you will also have the opportunity to practice in major drama clothing design studios in London.
