As the largest private design institute in Europe, the Italian Istituto Europeo di Design has a long history and high international reputation. Headquartered in Milan, Italy, the fashion capital. The European Design Institute of Italy is committed to education and research in the fields of design, fashion, visual arts, management and communication. Costume design, drama, film and stage play MDes


This master's program aims to train professionals who can correctly understand the visual expression of language, drama, opera, film and audio-visual performance. This type of designer mainly designs clothes for the dramatic characters, through the analysis of psychological behavior, the characteristics of the characters and the content of the drama. The ultimate goal is to create their own language for themselves, and clearly express the emotion and content that the author wants to express in the clothes designed.

Entrance interview


IED welcomes applications from all prospective students and hopes to accept the most promising students regardless of their background. The purpose of the entrance interview is to understand the motivation and attitude of students to choose IED courses. And their understanding of language. Have strong motivation and awareness of the content of the bachelor's degree/IED diploma/bachelor's degree H course, and have sufficient familiarity with the language. It is the best guarantee for students to obtain a three-year degree.


Once the student uploads the shortest file in his/her personal area and passes the IED, the applicant will be allowed to participate in the entrance interview. In order to facilitate the admission process, IED provides Skype as a platform to complete the entire admission interview process (including motivation interview and language assessment test). For this test, students need a Skype account for a fast Internet connection (minimum ADSL 4MB) between the PC and webcam, microphone, headset and speaker.


Please note that:


Applicants who do not pass the entrance interview can repeat it more than twice at the end of August, without additional costs.

Students who cannot attend the examination and interview according to the time and date of the original office must give written notice. If you do not do so, you must accept a new admission interview and charge a fee of 150 euros.

Motivation interviews are designed to assess students' general literacy in terms of attitude, motivation and knowledge. Art, design, communication and new technology. The European Design Institute suggests supporting a maximum 8MB collection of works;


Supporting digital portfolio (non mandatory *): IED invites applicants to submit a portfolio when available. The portfolio can include drawings/illustrations, computer graphic PR projects, photos, research projects/thesis projects, related topics, videos and any documents, about the applicant's own hobbies/interactions, with a maximum size of 8MB. The work should show the creative potential of the applicant, if possible, provide some insights, if possible, give some insights on the selected research field. If there is no suitable portfolio, the inspection board will be happy to see a series of works in the past.


Fashion Marketing:


Professions need to show an analytical and creative problem-solving attitude. Applicants must submit an article of 500 to 600 words in electronic form, describing a situation that combines analysis and creativity to solve problems. The problem can be any entity and any preferred field (individual, school, society, etc.). Thesis must be submitted in PDF file format and cannot be larger than 8MB.


Fashion communication:


Professions need to show innovative thinking and creative attitude. Applicants must submit a combination of at least 8 and no more than 10 pictures (no original) electronically to demonstrate their creativity and ability to visually express ideas.


The composite image of a work collection can include paintings, photos, paintings, photo collages, computer sketches, or combinations of all media. The image must be in JPEG format, and the collection of fashionable design works must not be larger than 8MB. Admissions committees are interested in thought processes and methods, not solutions.


Application Experience

Application guide of European Design Institute in Italy:


The one-year course of the European Design Institute is equivalent to the undergraduate preparatory course, which lays the foundation for the three-year undergraduate program. Students generally continue to study the first year undergraduate courses after completing the one-year courses. If the one-year program is successfully graduated with excellent results, the European Design Institute allows students to apply for direct promotion to the second year of the undergraduate course. You can apply for master's program after graduation.
