College Profile

Otis College of Art and Design (Otis college of art and design) (hereinafter referred to as Otis) was founded in 1918. The original organizer, Harrison Gray Otis, hopes to establish a public and independent art school in Southern California, the United States. The earliest campus is near the Los Angeles International Airport, and now it has become an IBM building. After a long time of operation, the school has a certain reputation in California, especially the Department of Fashion Design. From 1978 to 1991, Otis cooperated with Parsons in New York. At that time, Otis was called "Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design". Students studying Otis on the west bank can go to Parsons on the east bank for classes. After 1991, he left Parsons and became Otis today. Otis Otis College of Art and Design has high requirements for works. The school is close to Los Angeles, and the campus is small, with about 1100 students. The institute adopts an absolute small class teaching system, but does not offer a master's degree similar to that of other schools. The entire Master of Fine Arts degree only provides the major of "art writing". The university department of this school has a special major - "toy design", which can be experienced.

Otis Otis College of Art and Design hopes that students can enrich our world through their creativity, skills and vision. Otis College of Art and Design is the first independent professional school of art and design in Los Angeles. The majors include digital media, toy design, fashion design, etc. More than 200 teachers have practical experience in famous companies such as Disney and Mattel. This has also attracted a large number of Chinese students to choose the school.

Postgraduate major

Pure art major

Students of this major should have a "personal perspective". Students' works reflect their needs and vision, as well as their responses to the challenges of the artistic environment and current problems. This major encourages students to communicate and talk in artistic language. Through the cooperation project with Sandberg College in Amsterdam, we have provided students with a diversified art learning environment.

The admission of graduate students in autumn and spring depends on the number of enrollment places, and the specific arrangements are determined by the Graduate Student Council. All scholarship allocations are determined by graduate schools and departments according to their rankings. No independent application procedures are required, and all applicants will be automatically considered.

Graphic Design

The master's degree program provides a rigorous and challenging academic and research environment for students interested in further improving their professional abilities. In the limited number of places, participants can choose three independent themes - artists' sense of social responsibility, typesetting and printing and design, or develop disciplines through theoretical innovation. Courses include surveys, reading, studio projects, and graduation projects. This major provides students with design and practice guidance from core teachers, visiting scholars and internationally renowned artists.
