From the external expression of self concept to ideological system, the mathematics seniors of East China Normal University apply for studying photography in the UK on a zero basis. 　　 01. "From basic subjects to photography, I just advanced my career"

Originally, I chose basic subjects during the college entrance examination to get a good job.

In fact, I didn't choose this major because I loved mathematics very much. Many of my classmates are preparing to teach after graduation. After all, everyone in Normal University is aiming at employment. Another reason why I chose to study mathematics at the beginning was that I was preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination, and relatively speaking, I chose a wide range of basic subjects.

But I have always liked photography since I was young. From card machines to mobile phones to SLR cameras, I think photography is not only a record, but also an expression for me. I think it is very meaningful to express my own concepts and thoughts through freeze frame images. In fact, I would like to choose Studying abroad in photography , but I can't wait!

With the deepening of my studies, I feel that mathematics is not suitable for me and deviates from my future plans. Through constant travel, exhibitions, and master lectures, I have strengthened my determination to learn photography. I hope I can learn the concept of photography and multi-dimensional expression in the graduate stage, paving the way for future career development in advance.

　　 02. "In one and a half years, I have defined my own style of photography"

From good records to expressing emotions, I finally had my own style of photography.

I am the natural light of the year before last. At the beginning, because of the zero foundation, my tutor was guiding me to understand the understanding of overseas colleges and universities on photography, as well as their curriculum and preferences. I chose Anglo American Tongshen, because the teacher suggested that I should create according to my own ideas and concepts after roughly understanding my ideas. I should not consider the application preferences of colleges and universities too much, and choose to apply for Dream School according to my own photography style.

The tutor of natural light is very helpful to me in practice, because I have just come into contact with the real photography art, and I don't know how to start with the concept. So my first project is to sort out my ideas and form a systematic framework under the guidance of my tutor. In the middle, I adjusted my shooting angle twice and taught some techniques, which laid a good foundation for my later works.

In fact, at the beginning, I decided to change my major and talked with my parents for a while. They also respected my choice. I am a person with more ideas. I hope my works can be thought-provoking, not just visual impact.

Therefore, while making projects, I greatly improved my knowledge reserve, expanded my knowledge, and looked at the surrounding things and the world with an open attitude. I am loyal to my heart and express my philosophy and stream of consciousness through the lens in my works, forming my own artistic style.

　　 03. "External expression of stream of consciousness, philosophy, self-concept and ideology"

Compared with photography majors in China, I think photography majors in overseas universities are more open and inclusive. It will not imprison your thinking and ideas. Technology is the foundation, and concept, aesthetics, angle and concept are the real core of photography. So I applied for the UK Glasgow School of Art 。

Most of my projects are completed in the live studio. One is to control costs, and the other is to feel unlimited value through limited space.

During the whole application period, I gave full play to my imagination and creativity and created four projects. My projects are more stream of consciousness oriented. Instead of elaborately describing a story or a group like documentary photography, I use the lens to express a sense of consciousness. Through the external performance of the ideological system, to present the existential philosophy I understand.

Everyone is insignificant to the world. Everyone has different ways and angles of looking at the world, and their understanding of nature is also different. I use my own ideas to convey my creation, hoping that my works will have different repercussions in the eyes of every viewer.

In fact, the most difficult thing in project production is not technology, but ideas. For example, if you have no idea and don't know how to start, you need to observe a lot of things, people and experiences around you, and then reflect on the feelings of the whole process. The resulting concept also needs to think about how to achieve landing, and then show it through photography.

I think the whole process is the charm of photography. Different from other art majors, photography is a creative and recordable art form, which teaches you how to really experience life and seize the moment.

I will also convey an emotion through my works. I am born in the contemporary society and will touch many things with the growth of age, which will produce a sense of compulsion and bondage. So do you want to break away from these phenomena or immerse yourself in them?

I think this is a topic worth pondering. Through the lens, we can capture the performance of people in a moment, amplify the emotional tension to give people a visual experience, and at the same time, it will also resonate. This is the purpose of my creation and the theme I hope to express.

In fact, I don't have a clear career plan for the future. After graduation, I should return to China for employment. Neither business nor art will focus on one side. Entering business is for survival, and choosing art is for ideal. I hope I can become a freelance photographer in the future and live my life without any obstacles.
