When studying graphic design in the UK, everyone will first think of Lunyi Central Saint Martin School of Art and Design. The undergraduate graphic major ranks first among students studying in the UK. Today, we will introduce the graphic design of the Lower Saint Martin College of the Arts in detail from three aspects: curriculum, application requirements and employment prospects.
CSM Saint Martin Graphic Design Curriculum:
Undergraduate major: 3-year program
BA(Hons)Graphic Communication Design
Postgraduate major: 2-year system
MA Graphic Communication Design
There are three schools of Lunyi that have set up four majors related to graphic design. Each major has different emphasis. Today, we will take the representative Central Saint Martin as an example to introduce this major in detail.
Graphic major is an old specialty of Saint Martin CSM. The undergraduate education system is three years full-time. The undergraduate graphic major ranks first among students studying in the UK. The curriculum of this major focuses on five core processes: typesetting, digital, background, image and printing. Students can also access photography, printmaking and printing. These contents will run through the whole course to train students to become interdisciplinary, diversified or prominent artists and workers in a specific field.

Saint Martin's Studying abroad in graphic design Combine the existing industry environment, provide students with a solid foundation in core language, context and application, and encourage students to explore its boundaries.
In the first year of undergraduate study, students will focus on theoretical courses, so that they can learn the introduction to graphic communication design, the media and methods of graphic design communication practice, and later will learn the courses of brand, illustration, image production, information design, drawing and publishing, exhibition design, interaction design, and sports photography. These courses are classified into five categories, Students can choose 3 according to their interests to study and practice.
In the second year of undergraduate study, students will begin to explore and develop core skills on the basis of consolidating and learning the theoretical knowledge in the first year. Students can learn about the interrelationship in the design practice landscape and explore the concepts of collaboration, participation and relationship with the audience. This stage will be carried out through lectures and seminars.
In the third year of undergraduate course, the college focuses on cultivating students' ability to find, solve and set problems. Students will carry out situational exercises and community practice to improve their professional depth and practice situation and prepare for the professional practical ability required for graduation. The practical activities in this stage will be led and guided by experienced professional teachers.
Saint Martin's graduate program in graphic design is different from most one-year programs in the UK, with a two-year full-time program. This major is a comprehensive major, which attaches importance to interdisciplinary fields, encourages students to combine contemporary culture and media, changes the traditional pattern of graphic design, and tries various emerging majors, such as book design, illustration, and virtual reality technology.

The course is divided into three units of learning. Each unit is related. The knowledge of all units is consolidated through a series of course lectures, and further progress of the course is supported by providing a broader context for the research and practice of graphic communication design.
Unit 1: Taking Graphic Communication Design as the Research Object
The purpose of the first unit is to introduce students to the knowledge practice and research topics of graphic communication design. This module includes a series of topic introductions, critical discussions and seminar activities.
Unit 2: Situational Practice in Graphic Communication Design
Unit 2 provides a framework to challenge and strengthen students' special positions as designers. In this unit, students' works will be strengthened through contact with the audience and the public. For example, students will attend the annual seminar of the course.
Unit 3: Graphic Communication Design
The last unit synthesizes and constructs the students' experience in Unit 1 and Unit 2. It discusses how to expand graphic communication design as a research topic when inquiring about the details and process of production.
From the curriculum, we can see that both undergraduate and graduate students prefer practical courses. Undergraduate courses focus on cultivating students' theoretical and practical abilities related to graphic design, while postgraduate courses require higher professional depth and more conceptualization.
