How can I apply for a postgraduate degree from the New England Conservatory of Music? Today, I would like to introduce how to apply for the Master of Music MM and Graduate Diploma GD, Doctor of Music Arts, Artist Diploma, String Quartet, Piano Trio and Piano Chamber Music.

Master of Music MM and Graduate Diploma GD applicants

The Master of Music (MM) degree requires that the bachelor's degree has been completed, or its recognized equivalent, recognized junior college or previously enrolled university. Applicants who have completed university studies outside the United States must submit all academic records with official English translations, as well as documents equivalent to American degrees. Applicants who have not proved that they have the same degree are not qualified to enter the MM course, but can consider obtaining a graduate diploma. The New England Conservatory of Music recommends that applicants in question contact the Admissions Office and/or have their academic records assessed by the Foreign Certificate Assessment Service before admission.

Applicants for the Graduate Diploma (GD) must hold a bachelor's degree, undergraduate diploma or equivalent certificate. Applicants should demonstrate the same knowledge, repertoire and experience as MM applicants, but are expected to achieve higher performance standards.

Doctor of Music and Art Applicants

The Doctor of Music Arts (DMA) is the highest degree program of the New England Conservatory of Music, specially designed for emerging scholars who are also top performers and are seeking academic careers. Admission is very selective and based on the examination of auditions and entrance examination results, writing samples and all submitted supporting materials and suggestions. The DMA program is deliberately kept small, with only 8-12 students entering the program in most years. Successful applicants must give full play to the leadership of performers and combine the breadth of the repertoire with style and literary knowledge. All DMA applicants must obtain a master's degree in music from an accredited college or university before enrolling.

   Artist Diploma Applicants

The program of the Artist's Diploma (AD) is the highest performance program of NEC, which provides a particularly gifted opportunity to perform from the typical academic responsibilities, deepen and challenge their own skills, broaden their musical perspective, explore personal growth and professional development areas, free and professional life. Although a pre degree is not required to enter AD, most applicants have completed one or more university courses.

String Quartet, Piano Trio and Piano Chamber Music Applicants

The piano trio plan and professional string quartet plan of this specialty are specially used to establish two-year internship plans for piano trio and string quartet members. Most applicants for these courses will complete their bachelor's degree before entering a professional chamber music course. Piano trio and string quartet have certain ability and commitment to professional development, meet the learning conditions of this intensive course, and their members are eligible to obtain any existing graduate degree of NEC, including graduate diploma and master's degree in music. They meet any qualifying degree requirements for these degrees or diploma programs.

New England Conservatory of Music It has opened a two-year chamber music piano course, obtained a master's degree or graduate diploma in music, and also provided further study to obtain a doctor's degree in music art. This optional program is only open to a limited number of students each year. Successful applicants must have rich experience in chamber music repertoire and performance.

1. The applicant will submit the recorded video audition (or the works of the composer, theoretical and musicological applicant)

2. There will be no on-site audition on NEC campus. Only violin, viola and cello applicants need to be pre screened.

3. Application deadline is January 8, 2021
