Applicants are required to submit a portfolio of works and/or assignments or concept works for some courses of the Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, the Academy of Media and Design, and the Academy of Performing Arts.


There is no general blueprint for the contextual content or task completion of the portfolio composition. Such a work should reflect the candidates' own interests and reveal an in-depth investigation of the content and theme. In addition, applicants should consider their chosen courses in depth. In this regard, it is strongly recommended that they attend the UdK "Rundgang" Open Day in mid July every year. In general, UdK Berlin does not offer advice on portfolio composition. Exception: The Academy of Fine Arts opens the so-called "preparatory college" every autumn. Potential applicants can bring a portfolio of works to view this information event. In the study of fashion design for courses, the date of portfolio discussion is usually provided before the application deadline. The date will be announced in advance on the page of relevant learning courses.
