The music professional works collection of Curtis Conservatory of Music requires that all applicants with bassoon, clarinet, composition, conductor, bass, flute, piano, trombone, trumpet, tuba, violin, vocal music and opera must submit online screening materials for their works collection to participate in the audition. In addition to the $150 application fee, there is a $100 screening fee that should be paid to Curtis to complete the application. If the applicant is invited to have an on-site audition, the screening fee will be deducted as a credit of $150 audition fee (before the audition date of the department).
Bassoon tube
The applicant must submit a video recording containing the following contents:
● The first movement of one of the following concertos: Mozart, Weber or Humel
● An exercise chosen by the applicant
● An extract of standard orchestral music selected by the applicant

Curtis College of Music
Clarinet
● Exhibition of the first movement of Mozart Concerto (with piano accompaniment)
● The following orchestral excerpts:
◎ Mendelssohn, A Midsummer Night's Dream (starting from letter A, the 6th section of letter D to the 19th section after letter E)
◎ Rimsky Korsakov, Capriccio Espagnol, movement 1 (letter A to letter B, letter C stands for 21 sections)
◎ Brahms, the Third Symphony, the first movement (26-46 bars), the second movement (22 bars start)
Compose
Applicants can submit scores and accompanying recordings of up to three music scores. The submission of orchestral and large-scale ensemble works is encouraged, but not required. Recommended reading: Is it difficult for Wumei University in Tokyo to take the exam?

The applicant must submit high-quality audio-visual records before December 16, 2019, which are as follows:
● It includes three to four excerpts, showing various musical styles in standard orchestral music, opera and contemporary works. Extracts can be obtained from performances or rehearsals, and the whole recording length should not exceed 20 minutes.
● The recording must represent the applicant's current work.
● The applicant must be clearly visible.
Double bass
Applicants should prepare 5 to 10 minutes of video recordings to best demonstrate their skills. The selection should be similar to, but not limited to, the complete Double Bass audition track.
flute
The applicant shall prepare a video record of each (at least) action in the three contrast films. Works performed with piano (or other instruments) accompaniment shall be performed with piano accompaniment.
piano
The applicant should prepare the following videotapes (depending on the keyboard). Actions can be recorded separately, but each action should be recorded continuously.
● Complete works of JS Bach
● One of the following sonatas (complete and memorized):
◎ Any Mozart sonata (except K.545)
◎ Any Beethoven sonata (except Op. 49)
◎ Any of the five Haydn sonatas:

◇ C minor adjustment, hob. XVI:20,L.33
◇ E-flat professional, hob. XVI:49,L.59

● A slow choice and a fast choice in Chopin's solo works (works of Chopin piano and orchestra are not accepted)
Trombone
The applicant should prepare the following videotapes (unaccompanied). Each work should be a continuous recording.
● A movement in a concerto, sonata or other important solo works
● A technical etude by Kopprasch, Tyrell or Blazhevich
● Lyrics by Bordogni, Rochut or equivalent
● Excerpts from at least three symphonic styles
horn
The applicant should prepare a 10 to 15 minute video recording (suggested but not required for accompaniment), which includes the following:
● A solo work (not applicable to piccolo trumpet) can be the performance of a standard concerto or sonata (no more than 8 minutes), or a solo performance (no more than 8 minutes). Long works or personal actions with cutting records are acceptable.
● Three different standard orchestral pieces (piano accompaniment is recommended but not required)
Bass tuba
The applicant should prepare the following videotapes (unaccompanied). Each work can be recorded separately.
● Etudes by Bordogni, Blazhevich or Snedecor, played on the bass cello
● The first movement of Vaughan Williams Tuba Concerto, from the beginning of the pessimistic atmosphere of rehearsal 3 to the end of the orchestra, is recorded as one. Any released version of cadenza is acceptable.
● Wagner, Die Meistersinger overture, the first 8 measures, and rehearsal through rehearsal L J
● Wagner, Adventures of Marching (Standard B)
violin
Applicants should submit the following videos (recorded in 2019). Actions can be recorded separately, but each action should be recorded continuously; Please include at least one slow paced exercise:
● A movement of Mozart concerto
● One movement of another standard track concerto
● Two movements played by Bach's solo sonata or Beta
● Paganini Capriccio
Vocal music/opera
Applicants should prepare videos of three tracks to show the comparison of musical style and rhythm: songs or opera arias of undergraduate course applicants, and opera arias only for graduate courses. The screening record should include accompaniment. Please make sure that the recording quality is good, because it will depend on this for the live audition. The applicant will be notified of the decision on the on-site audition in mid January.
