Applicants for DMA degree courses must have auditions, interviews and take relevant examinations.

Applicants must take the exam at the designated time on two exam days. These exams will not be offered on other dates or times and will not be rescheduled. All examinations will be conducted in a virtual manner.

Applicants can be invited to have a 30 minute virtual interview with members of the DMA examination committee. Applicants invited to the interview will receive details from the Yale School of Music Admissions Office on Saturday, February 27, 2021.

In addition to the items listed above, DMA applicants must submit supplementary materials, including important samples of previous academic works on music or non music topics (5-20 pages) and seven short answers, including your current career plan and reasons for entering the DMA program.

In addition to passing the on-site audition, applicants must also pass the entrance examination. The entrance examination is divided into four parts:

● Listening and score recognition

● Music history

● Tone analysis and musical talent

● 20th century analysis

● Musician qualification section tests your auditory perception of melody, harmony, rhythm and sentence structure in music through dictation and other written exercises.

　　 BA/MM Applicant

Apply for quasi Yale University

Applicants for senior bachelor/MM must submit their applications to Yale University and Yale Conservatory of Music in the same academic year. The two applications are completely independent of each other.

　　 Yale school of Music The application deadline for the next academic year is December 1, and Yale University is January 2. If you are eligible for the fee reduction applied by Yale University, we will also exempt you from the fee for applying to the Conservatory of Music.

Applicants who have passed the pre selection round will have an on-site audition and must attend. The Admissions Office of the Conservatory of Music will notify the applicant of the prequalification results before the end of January and the on-site audition results before the beginning of April.
