Bachelor of Music Application Requirements
For all applications, we ask that you have evidence of professional performance potential in your main learning, sound general music level and good auditory response.
You do not need to take any formal practical music exam. However, as a guide, we expect students to at least meet the grade:
Level 8 or DipABRSM Joint Board of Music (ABRSM) examination at the Royal Academy of Music
or
Level 8 or Associate Diploma (ATCL) at Trinity College London
If you do not plan to take music as the subject of the school examination, we recommend that you obtain the music theory knowledge of Level 6 (ABRSM or Trinity College London) before we begin to study. There are many free online resources.
If your main course of study is not keyboard instrument, there is no formal minimum entrance standard for keyboard skills. However, it is better to use the minimum requirements of ABRSM or Trinity College London's Grade 5 piano (or equivalent) to help you improve your general music literacy.
