At the end of August 2019, Lingge students came to the natural light, and started the production of works collection and school application process for less than half a year. At the beginning of September, with the help of another teacher and I, the students soon began to learn the fashion management course. In the short eight years, we have seen the efforts and progress of Lingge students. These progress is not only reflected in professional knowledge, but also in the innovative thinking of Lingge students.
Interdisciplinary within fashion specialty
Lingge graduated from Beijing Institute of Fashion Design with a bachelor's degree. She hopes to apply for fashion management across disciplines. Her country is in the UK. Many students do not know what to learn about fashion management, and which country should they go to? As a major in fashion management, we recommend studying in the UK, because as a major producer of luxury goods, fashion majors in the UK are actually more exposed to many practical opportunities and first-hand information about major luxury goods. Every year, there are many large-scale luxury goods and fashion goods gatherings, with a strong atmosphere, which can improve students' sensitivity to the fashion industry, These are the unique resource advantages of British fashion management.
Although Lingge's undergraduate major is related to Fashion, in fact, clothing design and fashion management are very different, belonging to two different branches of fashion.
A ready to wear garment needs to go through the stages of design - proofing - advertising - preview - production - marketing - sales from scratch to the hands of consumers. Fashion design is the first step of a garment. It is a subject combining practicality and artistry. It is mainly in the process of designing, focusing on such courses and skills as conception, drawing and shaping.


Fashion management, on the other hand, tends to focus on art majors related to fashion, but more on business majors. The study contents include the history of fashion brand development, management methodology, international trade, cost control, brand strategic marketing, etc. This major requires students to be highly sensitive to fashion, have certain data analysis ability, and also be able to study consumer psychology. In the work after graduation, we need to find the problems of existing brands, research and analyze them. It is also necessary to conduct in-depth research and analysis on brand characteristics and formulate corresponding development strategies.

At that time, Lingge had no contact with the management field in the fashion industry, and knew little about fashion management. There were many things to learn from scratch. Later, Lingge learned that she and I were in the same alma mater, and began to call me "sister". We have been very happy together and can communicate without generation gap.
In order to help Lingge students who apply for cross majors supplement the basic knowledge of fashion management and lay a good foundation for later collections and papers, we learned fashion trends and terminology, the characteristics of major fashion weeks, the development model of fashion industry, fashion media and communication, fashion promotion and branding, visual marketing, and the development of e-commerce in physical stores at this stage.
At the same time, the students also followed another teacher to learn more in-depth theoretical knowledge about fashion enterprises from all aspects, and conducted case study on the sales model of see now buy now. How to eliminate the distance between fashion shows and customers completely and make them contact with each other at zero distance? How to ignite the purchase desire with the shocking show experience? With the vigorous development of social media, how can social media become the most direct and influential communication tool for customer groups? These are the thoughts that you should start when you first enter the major of fashion management. At the later stage of the preparation stage, we also learned the relevant knowledge of customer profile to prepare for the writing of papers and learning plans.
Fashion management portfolio production
At the end of the basic course, we entered the production stage of fashion management portfolio. Many students may think that majors like fashion management and art management only need to write papers and do not need collections of works. However, if you want to enter Daniel University, there is no advantage in just writing an essay. In order to better demonstrate students' abilities, we usually add visual content.
We divide the collection of fashion management works into two parts, one is the collection of works related to visual design of window and poster display, and the other is the thesis and study plan in fashion management specialty. Of course, there are also some finished works of women's clothing for students, which can comprehensively improve and enrich the whole work.

In the aspect of fashion window design, we conducted brand research with CHITOPIA as the design brand to extend the 2018 design inspiration of "time capsule", produced emotional versions of spring and summer 2018 and autumn and winter 2018 respectively, and designed and produced two seasons of fashion posters, window and other related contents accordingly.

In terms of the thesis, first of all, we deeply investigated the concept of design thinking, and decided to take DESIGN THINKING as the theme to discuss how the art business district is applied as a design thinking. Under the guidance of the teacher, Lingge took Qiaofu Fangcaoping and Sanlitun Taikoo Li as two examples of the application of art business districts, through comprehensive research and comparative analysis of the two business districts, and finally estimated the development direction and future challenges of using design thinking in business. The writing of the study plan was also carried out at the same time as the writing of the paper. The specific plan for Takasha to enter the UK and the flash store plan in London were designed and planned. After the teacher's advice, the planning plan for the collection of works was gradually refined.
