Visual and Critical Research: Criticism&Curatorial Practice of Art History


Students of this major share art history courses with students majoring in studio courses, while visual and critical research courses will be conducted separately. Contemporary Art, Design and New Media Art History (MA)


Master students of contemporary art, design and new media art history have explored their creative practices and works since 1970. Ontario College of Art and Design undergraduate admission requirements:


1. Minimum admission requirements for undergraduate applications outside Ontario:


High school graduation

The average score of college preparatory courses is 70% or above

TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.5 or above


2. The admission of Studio professional degree (BFA, BDes) mainly depends on the level of your portfolio. Admission to a BA (Visual and Critical Studies) degree depends on your writing samples and your high school grades. 3. After submitting your collection of overseas art works (for students applying for BFA and BDes). Applicants can optionally participate in the portfolio assessment. Research suggestions: Applicants should clearly list their backgrounds in at least two professional fields, and describe their interdisciplinary research interests or project themes for art study abroad. One of these areas of expertise must be in studio art, media or design. It is recommended to print out at most 500 words. Appendices should include references and examples of visual works. It is strongly recommended that applicants find at least one graduate student willing to cooperate with them in their research.


Requirements for art study album: Applicants need to submit up to 15 still picture works. Quicktime movie or other video image files should not exceed three minutes in length. Try to choose the best works. The works created within 1 year shall be selected. The portfolio must be accompanied by an artist/designer statement of no more than 250 words. The statement should describe recent work and explain its relevance to research recommendations. I suggest you discuss your practical work, your existing professional knowledge, and how you can cultivate your practical ability in graduate study.
