Cinematography
This course focuses on art and visual narrative techniques and is taught by professional film photographers. Students learn how to move the audience through the interpretation of visual narration. Students can practice through lectures, lighting workshops, digital, 16mm and 35mm cameras, and will be quick, knowledgeable and creative.
The core of the first year is three short narrative projects. The teaching integrates new media technology, from visual preview to advanced image processing and control, students can improve their narrative skills in the digital studio. In the second year, middle school students formed teams to shoot 14-30 minute graduation works in any format. In addition, the portfolio of cinematography should include 35mm works.
director
An excellent director must be a person who can tell stories. This course focuses on narrative, visual language and presentation. The training from script creation to screen production enables students to have a comprehensive understanding. Students will learn to cooperate with playwrights and producers, and complete all production projects with professional actors, cinematographers, production designers and editors.
In the first year, students will direct three substantive narrative projects, including valuable opportunities to work with actors from the Screen Actors Guild of America. The course also requires students to participate in various director workshops, techniques and strategies, and attach importance to narrative views and ideas.
In the second year, students will form teams with other professionals to shoot narrative works, which will be guided by professional teachers and applied in class. The director can also add feature films or television projects to the graduation thesis works.
edit
This major is designed for technology, aesthetics and post production, focusing on how to tell stories. Students should exercise their ability in editing and cooperate with other members to become editors, assistant editors and post producers. The post production equipment includes 15 AvidSymphonyNitrisDXbay and 1 dual boot AvidNitrisDS, all of which are stored through the network.
The editing work in the first year included six narrative digital projects, which not only provided guidance on images and effects, but also helped with sound design aesthetics. Students can mix sounds with Pro tools at the audio workstation.
In the second year, students will cooperate to complete two film or high-definition projects, complete the complete post production process, imitate studio production, and establish professional contacts with external suppliers.
Production
Develop in-depth understanding of creativity and substance production, and graduate students can think creatively, have confidence, and have authoritative leadership.
In the first year, students and students of other majors produced three narrative projects. They participate in creative and production meetings, during which personal projects are discussed. Students also participate in workshops and seminars every week to learn the role of producers and gradually understand their responsibilities in the production process.
In the second year, the production team and other professional students produced short narrative works. In addition, they also need to include drama or TV projects in their graduation works. Students will also participate in various workshops and seminars on creative entrepreneurship production.
Production design
This course attracts artists in architecture, interior design, landscape design, dramatic art and other related fields, pays attention to the visual and physical creative process, and establishes the necessary environment for storytelling. The production designer must have a keen understanding of the story in order to build a credible realistic world.
In the first year, students will work together to produce at least three narrative projects to learn how to translate design into reality in the studio or other places, while ensuring that it is within a limited economic budget. Students improve their design skills through courses, workshops and practical buildings. In the first year, they focus on traditional design methods to express their ideas. Digital design tools and technologies are part of the course and the focus of the second year.
In the second year, the student union will design all the graduation works and independently design the collection of works. The course also includes special workshops, including illustrations, drafts, models, budgets, color theory, and the latest digital design. These courses can give students the opportunity to communicate with AFI production team and future professional colleagues.
script writing
Focus on narration in the environment of simulating professional screenwriters, find their unique voice, and learn the essence of being a member of the entrepreneurial team. The core of script creation is the relationship between students and teachers, who will guide and support the author's progress. In the workshop of the Drama Center, students will get help from critics, teachers and peers, and grow into storytellers of films.
In the first year, writers learned how to visualize the script from the process of immersion creation. One of the original short film scripts is the foundation of the first year. The playwrights cooperate with students majoring in production and directing to see how their works are transferred from books to screens. At the end of the first year, students should write a long script.
In the second year, in addition to writing comedy films, students can also develop television. They have the opportunity to work closely with students in other disciplines, or write scripts for the graduation project of the second year, or join in the production and direction of students' graduation works and material preparation.
