MCAD is generally a small and exquisite school, with undergraduate and graduate students. The number of students is small, and they are basically local people in the state. Unlike other art schools, MCAD has a small number of international students, and the school hardly makes any publicity overseas, so few people know about it in China. A small number of Korean students, Japanese students, Vietnamese students, European students, and even Chinese undergraduate and master students basically know each other.
The MCAD Art College campus covers an area of 3 acres, sharing a block with the Minneapolis Art College, including classrooms, professional facilities, galleries, student residential areas, artist studios and sculpture gardens. The Modernist Main Building is one of the only buildings in the United States designed by Kenzo Tange, the architect who won the Pritzker Prize.
