The Observational Practices Lab/Observation Practice Lab was created in 2016 under the leadership of Pascal Glissmann and Selena Kimball, two course professors of Parsons, with the purpose of triggering critical reflection on interdisciplinary boundaries and the nature of observation. Driven by the integration of disciplines, OPL has also become a platform for Parsons' interdisciplinary research between teachers and students. It regularly releases observation tasks to teachers and students, invites them to participate actively, and shares research results on topics to the public through symposiums, academic courses, thematic exhibitions, online and physical publications. As a learning platform based on online communication, inspired by the epidemic, the laboratory has also developed a new topic to promote and communicate with the public, and promote people's observational thinking about "isolation".

The theme of the project is "Atlas of Daily Objects in the Age of Global Social Isolation". As part of the whole art works and social observation experiment, OPL gathered participants from all over the world to record 9 impressive objects or scenes with images by observing things in life.
