He called himself the elder student of Natural Light. Since the establishment of Natural Light, he has witnessed one relocation and two site upgrades of the campus in the past three years, and Natural Light has also witnessed his growth. When he entered the university, he was the last but one, and after continuous efforts, he became the first. After graduation, he received a year of professional guidance in British interior design in Natural Light, He formally began to prepare his collection of works, challenged his own limits again and again, and completed the "upgrading" and counter attack on himself. Without passing the language, he was still appreciated by the interviewers, and won the offers from the Central Saint Martin School of Art and Design, Birmingham City University, Manchester School of Art, and the British University of Creative Arts!

In his learning career, he was a very "tough" and "tough" student. Optimistic personality, not afraid of difficulties, but to find difficult boys, what to do, I said that although there will be times to hide crying in private, but always stand up to face crying.

In daily life, he is a boy whose sensibility outweighs rationality. He is curious about everything and full of ritual sense of life.

Born optimistic and a little emotional, he perfectly combined his own characteristics and created a book with his own unique style Studying abroad in interior design sample reels. He said, "I think if you want to do a good job in design, you must learn how to live first, so that you can influence others to face life better. Design also needs a lot of emotional emotions. If you can make good use of emotional and rational, it is also good".

When Wang learned that this interview was going to be conducted, he knew everything about it. This time, we can say that it was full of dry goods! Next, let's take a look at the mental journey of the hero who learned to be a tyrant after the counter attack.

Q: How long has your portfolio course lasted? Have you taken any basic courses?

A: My collection of works is a very long process. Strictly speaking, it was completed in almost one year. I may be an elder student among the students who have not left so far. I found natural light in my sophomore year of college. I have been here for three years. At first, the natural light was located in Shaocheng Mansion, and then I went through a relocation and two space transformations of the campus. Due to taking care of my college grades and a one-year delay, I started my collection of works one year after graduation. I have had 15 basic courses, which in fact greatly affected my later work collection. The basic courses have opened my courage and made me really start to contact the foreign art atmosphere, which is a good start.

Q: How long has your portfolio been prepared? How many projects have you done?

A: The British Interior Design Collection was prepared for about a whole year, with a total of 5 projects. In fact, at the beginning, there were only 4 projects, one of which was my graduation design. However, after thinking about the structure of the total collection, it was divided into two directions, and finally produced in 5 projects.

Each project can be divided into architecture, interior, installation, etc. separately, but in general, it belongs to the same theme, is related to security, but is understood from different perspectives. This is also the way to discuss with Mr. Wu, and then Mr. Wu guides me to think in tandem and modify. Because I personally am a growing change from a boy who lacks a sense of security to a boy who has a sense of self security. Through observation of the society, I find that the construction of a sense of security is a necessary path for the psychological development of people brought about by the rapid development of a city, both physically and mentally, I think as a designer, this is a very important topic that is worth discussing and solving in the future.

Q: Let's talk about these projects in detail?

A: Item A (establishment and protection of physical and physical security)

Strictly speaking, project A was transformed from my graduation design. In fact, I was not very satisfied with this work, and I didn't think deeply, but I tried to do it because it was the first project. Project A mainly considers that from the primitive times, people lived in caves. In addition to sheltering from wind and rain, there was also a sense of enclosure and security. People had a full sense of security in the enclosure space under certain characteristics. Here we choose the hardest triangle to extract the spatial characteristics of the cave and use wood to create the internal and external space as a whole. The exterior is the simplest, but the interior is unique. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Wu discovered my advantage at this stage, that is, I love to draw hand drawn analysis charts. I think it is very flexible, and I am lazy. I think it is more important to express my thoughts than to be a super cool chart. It is a better direction to first ensure the accurate transmission of information and then consider beautification, At last, the independent painting style of his own work collection was formed, which looks like a survey report and a presentation of hand-painted thinking. Perhaps the pencil draft of the analysis diagram of the whole set of works is my most unique place.

Project B (Chinese culture, "home" and "shared food" culture to create psychological security)

This project is about Chinese cultural eating habits and social phenomena. Because of the acceleration of the urban speed, more and more people choose the dining mode of "one person eating", but it is actually a social development process that we cannot change. But we can think about the problem from another perspective, how to maintain the current trend of "one person eating" while creating a "shared eating" through space transformation To enhance people's sense of psychological security. Then considering that I am an international student, I also brought some Chinese things to exchange.

Project C (private soul world, relationship between emotion and space, establishment of spiritual security)

This is the studio I participated in. It's a very abstract and difficult project, but when I look back, I find that I have grown a lot. This project is probably one of the most done by hand. It is a very abstract space, a feeling of space and emotion, without specific size or given environment. Therefore, the research and discussion here is about the relationship between personality, emotion and space, which can be said to be a very icing on the cake work.

Project D (transformation of narrow space and creation of psychological security)

This original model data is really difficult! I ran three times to measure, but every time I was caught by the security uncle with a camera, I almost called the police, thinking I was sabotaging or something. The whole set of data was measured several times on the spot. This is an interdisciplinary work in the whole set of works, which is mainly related to biology. I am a liberal arts student. In order to understand the most basic principles, I keep learning about DNA, genes and other basic knowledge, from which I understand that people have a natural character, and enhance people's sense of security through the transformation of underground channels, the use of color, interactive devices, and the softening of space, And turn a cold space into an interactive space, which makes people weaken their fear and immerse themselves in the space.

Project E (pressure in the city, creation of self space, discussion on safety scope and sense of safety)

Q: Which project is your favorite?

A: My favorite project is the hot pot restaurant dining space led by Mr. Wu, the spiritual space design of Jackson Pollock led by Mr. Studio Lin and Mr. Kelly. The former is because the family is engaged in this business, and then has a certain understanding of basic operations and space, and is very happy to overcome the difficulties in space. The latter is also due to many problems, but they have overcome them.

Q: Which project is more difficult in the process? How does the teacher help you solve problems?

A: Studio is the most difficult project, because we have done a lot of attempts in both thinking extraction and ordinary two-dimensional and three-dimensional experiments, and we have been exposed to a lot of materials.

I like doing curve space, but my modeling ability is really not up to scratch. In the early stage, many of them were hand models and hand drawings. I originally asked someone to help me with modeling during the final defense, but the rhinoceros is not really big. I was told a few days before the defense that this one is too difficult for me to build. I was pigeoned. Although it was hard and I couldn't help it, I kept trying to find out what kind of materials I could make in a short time. On the same day, I drove dozens of kilometers away to buy better industrial putty. I used thick and thin steel wires to build the frame. The putty made space. After several nights of cooking, I still produced what I wanted to express. I was angry and blamed myself, I thought it would be great if I could learn rhinoceros. Then I went to learn rhinoceros by myself. Before submitting, I built a model and 3D printed it.

The whole project was very tortuous, but looking back, I really learned too much. In the project, because there are classes every week, I write them down and ask the teachers if I don't understand them. The teachers are also very patient. They are still sending me WeChat messages after class to tell me how you can try them. When the teachers of the defense team come down to give me their opinions privately, I think the teachers' opinions have some merit, so I write them down and change them if I think they are appropriate. In general, this project has put a lot of effort into my teachers and me. Mr. Kelly and Mr. Wu also broke my heart.

Q: Are there any interdisciplinary works in your project?

A: Yes, item D is. It is said that many foreign colleges and universities like interdisciplinary works, and I personally think that the growth of design is not only the communication of this major, but also the thought collision between many majors. Because all majors come from life, and design comes from life and is dedicated to life, various majors will be interspersed more or less. This is also a great direction for professional growth and breakthrough in design. The idea of interprofessionality was first proposed by Mr. Wu, who often discussed the relationship between major disciplines with him in class.

Q: How do you understand the major of interior design?

A: I think learning design should first learn how to live, and design comes from life feedback to life. For the space design major, I think it is not just the wall enclosure, ceiling and decoration. Space has language and emotion. For example, the wind, temperature, humidity, sunlight, touch, fragrance and vision felt in the space are all very important. An excellent space is not how advanced or expensive it seems, but the space needed is just the carrier of the space.

Excellent space can influence people's life and make people happy. Moreover, space is also a place where memory can be saved and stories can be created. What I want to do most is to create the stories that belong to the bearer in the future project after project. Space design is a common output result of sensibility and rationality. It is a very interesting trade-off to not only comply with strict engineering, but also meet the inner feelings.

Q: Is there any difference between having classes in natural light and having classes in school before?

A: The biggest difference is that you can not be constrained. Because the goals are different, the teaching will also be different, and it can be said that both are indispensable. But as for the upcoming integration into overseas universities, I prefer the natural light teaching method. The time is free, the project topic is free, and anything you want to do can be done, and there are teachers to guide you to become your favorite self.

Q: What do you think is the greatest help to the works collection in the teacher's teaching?

A: My main professional teacher is Mr. Wu, and the teachers who took me also include Mr. Liu, Mr. Lin and many teachers I know. In fact, what most impresses me is not the teaching of works, but the teacher's teaching must be excellent, and the way of thinking is particularly free and interesting.

But why is it that the greatest help of the portfolio is not the knowledge itself? Because I am a graduate student. Although the teacher wants to help you with many projects, most of them are done by myself. The attitude, mentality and growth process are the most helpful. In the year when I got along with Mr. Wu, I questioned myself, my teachers, and discussed teaching and many other issues beyond teaching with Mr. Wu. Mr. Wu will also face my questions very directly and accompany me to find the answers. The harvest of the whole year is not only the professional design thinking and the exploration of my uniqueness, but also the stronger personality, calm resolution, efficient work, and serious and responsible attitude, which is the best display of British interior design works.

Q: Have you ever participated in natural light activities before?

A: Yes, there are many. Ha ha ha. As a veteran student who has been staying on for a long time, he must have participated in many activities. I have participated in the summer design and construction workshop, interdisciplinary courses, materials courses, etc.

Q: Do you have any suggestions for younger students who want to apply for this major in the future?

A: Go and have a good time, play with your thoughts, and live with a sense of ritual. Go and observe more people's expressions and behaviors, and observe more details in life. Cultivate your uniqueness and communicate with others. The design must be communicated with people who are better than themselves, so as to experience more. Happy, sad, uncomfortable, tangled, all experience, do not be afraid.

Because all of this can be turned into your thoughts to fill your world. When you output, you will think more deeply and be a thoughtful person. Basic knowledge must be excellent. Painting and software are basic skills. These meetings mean that you have more time to play, experience and think. Sometimes when you go to any space, whether indoor or outdoor, you can close your eyes and feel it and ask yourself what is left in this space without all decorations. Then we should look at more cases and analyze more.

Q: Have you finally decided which school to go to? Why?

A: Hmm~(thinking about face) If RCA doesn't favor me, I will definitely go to CSM. In fact, I prefer CSM. In fact, from the beginning of doing the collection of British interior design works, I didn't think about which school I had to go to. What I thought was that if I could go to RCA, UAL would certainly be the best, but I just wanted to do my favorite thing, my favorite direction, and if I could move myself, I would naturally move the college. In my opinion, choosing a school is a two-way choice. The school is chosen because it is suitable for their major, and I look forward to being guided by my school to continue on the way I like. My collection of works has many stories, many emotional feelings. At the beginning, when I communicated with Wu, I always thought that space and psychology were inseparable, and many environments would have a connection and common impact. The narrative environment of CSM just met this point. I hope to form my own independent views, and the colleges and universities are auxiliary rather than dominant, This is the most important point for graduate students in my opinion. They know what they want to do.

Q: Can you share your interview experience?

A: Don't counsel! Even if the other person is confused by your English, you should pretend that you are right and be good at expressing yourself. Of course, the meaning here is not nonsense, as long as you don't deviate from it. Some students may be afraid. They will feel that their English is not good and they are not confident. Those who had hopes may have no hope. My IELTS score was 4.5 in the interview, and my oral English score was only 4. The examiners were stunned. So nothing is impossible.

Share a tip. If you have to prepare, pay more attention to your intonation. Rhythm is very important. Try to ask the school, or guide the other party to see your work. Don't be led blindly, but talk with an attitude of communication. Be casual. Don't be afraid if you are wrong. The main thing is that the core should not run around.

Q: Did you encounter any difficulties in the application process?

A: There are many difficulties that can be said to have never stopped. They are not listed here one by one. They are related to relationships, studies, family members, and loneliness. I believe I am not alone. Students who have experienced art studies know the loneliness and helplessness in their hearts, but they have to stand up and cry on the keyboard even if they cry. This year's application trend of foreign universities is also very turbulent, which can be called the worst application season for studying abroad, so all students have their own difficulties. But perhaps the most uncomfortable thing is that the design is impossible, and the thinking is stuck. But it is the most difficult feeling that the deadline keeps getting closer and pushing its own growth. Of course, it is also the most beautiful when looking back.

Today, we introduced the student's application for studying in the UK for interior design. Without passing the language test, the student won the offer from four British colleges and universities. Students who want to see more student works can find natural light. In the process of communication with Wang, he mentioned the importance of mentality and independent thinking many times. Whether it is the production time of the collection of works or the interview without passing the language, they are all done with high pressure. It can be said that mentality is not to be underestimated. For the exploration of self independent thinking, he firmly believes that he should not follow the trend, be himself, and show his most unique appearance to the dream school.
