RISD Interior Design Collection

I'm very happy that Zhang has grown from my student to my younger brother! It's true that he is constantly challenging himself, stepping out of his comfort zone, making great progress, and finally getting rewarded.

At first Portfolio training During the professional basic course, Zhang was still in Italy. I was worried about whether online communication would discount the output of the course at the beginning, but when I saw that he sent the homework to my mailbox on time before each class, I thought it should be OK. Although some of his ideas are a little rigid, his status is getting better and better after continuous practice during professional basic courses and our expansion and deliberation of design ideas in the production of portfolio projects.

Zhang's several projects are quite different. His science is scene design, which is the part of space conception that is similar to the interior design he is preparing to apply for. So when we conceive the project of the whole work collection, we decided to use the scene design he did in school to improve it into a work collection project, highlighting the students' original professional background and understanding of space design. When he was studying professional basic courses online with me in Italy, he mentioned a mural of more than 500 meters long by the Roman River. Later, we took this opportunity to do a project of landscape architecture, attracting more people to come to this place and enjoy the beautiful riverside scenery of the ancient city.

I am the assistant teacher of the architectural studio in which Zhang's classmate participated. During that time, he often told me that it was too difficult to think out and do it. With constant encouragement, he tried to model complex surfaces that he had never touched before, and finally completed the 3D printing model. The graphic expression is also improving every week. This experience also made him more confident and less afraid of difficulties. I believe that this is one of the reasons why he can finally achieve such good results when he finishes the last project in Studio. Only by constantly challenging himself and doing his best can he see more possibilities.

Mr. Liu graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in the United States Studying abroad in architectural design , graduated from Rhode Island School of Design, majoring in interior design. In school, he worked as an exhibition design internship in the Metropolitan Museum of the United States, and organized exhibitions in the gallery of the school. After graduation, he worked in the Store Design Department of Coach New York Headquarters, and had rich practical experience in the design of commercial space and exhibition space. Accustomed to using subtle space design to solve and change established problems, he has keen observation and is good at looking at the same problem from different perspectives. I hope to use the experience accumulated from seven years of studying abroad and working life to help students with natural light find their own schools and make full preparations to start a different life!
