How to get inspiration from the "Watched World"? Hello everyone, here is the inspiration source of overseas teachers of Natural Light Art. With the development of modern technology, surveillance has penetrated into all aspects of life. This ubiquitous surveillance not only changes our behavior patterns, but also shapes our society and culture to some extent. With the theme of "the monitored world", you can explore the profound impact of monitoring on individuals and society from multiple dimensions.

   Inspiration source and thinking:

◆ The concept of universal monitoring:

In modern society, it is difficult for us to escape from various forms of surveillance, whether in public space or in the private sphere. From street cameras to data collection of mobile applications, these seemingly insignificant details constitute a huge monitoring network. Thinking about how this pan surveillance phenomenon affects our daily life, social behavior and privacy concept can provide rich materials and views for the collection of works.

Inspiration of works collection: how to turn ideas into works collection?

◆ Enlightenment from cave fables:

The cave fable comes from Plato's Republic, which describes a group of people who are bound in the cave and can only see the shadow on the cave wall, mistaking it for the real world. Combining this fable with the phenomenon of surveillance in modern society, we can think: under the environment of extensive surveillance, are we bound in some "false" reality like people in caves, unable to see the truth of things?

Examples of extension points of viewpoint regeneration:

The paradox between surveillance and freedom

◆ Relativity of freedom: In a highly monitored society, freedom has become a relative concept. On the surface, we seem to have unprecedented freedom - free expression, free communication, free action; However, this kind of freedom is the freedom watched by countless pairs of "eyes", which is a kind of freedom restricted and disciplined.

◆ Justification of monitoring: Monitoring is often justified in the name of safety, order and efficiency. But the question is, when security and freedom conflict, how should we choose? Where is the monitoring boundary? There is no absolute answer to these questions, but they constitute an important thinking dimension of the work.

   Data, privacy and identity

◆ Data oriented self: In the digital era, every act of us is transformed into data. These data can be used not only for commercial purposes, but also for political manipulation or social control. The collection of works can explore the impact of this kind of data self on individual identity and privacy.

◆ Redefinition of privacy: privacy in the traditional sense is being redefined. Do we still need privacy in the ubiquitous environment of surveillance? If necessary, how should we protect our privacy? These problems point to the ethical and legal issues that may be involved in the works.
