What should i do to apply for rca portfolio? RCA layout and picture expression should be clear and diversified! According to the requirements of the collection published by RCA on the official website, the school hopes that applicants will have a more concise and innovative presentation, both in terms of the layout and content presentation of the collection.

RCA layout and picture expression should be clear

Want to see diversity even if you fail?

with Royal College of Art According to the requirements for the collection of works published on the official website, the school hopes that the applicants will have a more concise and innovative presentation in terms of the layout and content presentation of the collection of works.

Collections should be concise and logical

Therefore, in terms of the layout and design of RCA works, only a concise and objective description of how the works convey the theme itself is needed, without too much self description.

What should i do to apply for rca portfolio?

In addition, RCA also attaches great importance to the logical order of images. It can even let pictures play the role of replacing the text itself.

The importance of diversified experiment process

Through the cases in previous years, RCA also hopes to see some diversified experimental processes. For example, Zhou, who received the RCA photography offer, highlighted the diversified experimental methods and processes of sculpture and image in his works.

   1. Why put this picture?

This picture is the work of the French artist Thomas Mailander, who painted the negatives of 23 archived photos on the subjects' bodies, and burned the photos on their skin with ultraviolet light. The reason for putting this picture is that it is an art work that I met with my tutor on the first day and shared with him. The tutor liked it very much and asked me about my artist's name. This work is a good example of how teachers of rca and even ua like their works.

   2. What is the critical thinking required by the portfolio?

In fact, Critical thinking has two meanings. On the one hand, we are familiar with the idea of being a master to question everything that seems reasonable (referring to artists, works of art, your works, etc.), but you may find it a bit strange to say that your works are not good in the collection of works (many people must have the same feeling with me!!). The second level means the logic of your work. In plain English, it is why you use this way and draw such content, Why use such media and so on (This meaning is very important, because the teachers who look at your work collection, even most of the teachers from rca and ua, are highly educated. When they read, they wrote a lot of papers to build the huge logic of their own work, but the logic chain of many work collections is broken, and the teachers can see it without even reading the text of your work collection.).

   3. How to view the problem of excessive research on the work collection proposed by the rca instructor?

In fact, excessive research is common in the collection of works of Chinese students studying abroad, because it seems that everyone's teacher of the collection will tell you that British schools value research very much, and research is not wrong, but the supervisor of rca actually knows how the collection organization teaches you to make collections. Excessive research means that your research has covered your work! (Don't mention that your portfolio is reviewed for only a few minutes on average. I read in rca and met my tutor, and wrote the research in proposal. The teacher is reluctant to read more if there are too many words). Put some useful words and pictures into your portfolio. After typesetting, jump out of your identity as the creator, and put yourself in the teacher who looks at your collection of works to see if the whole context of typesetting is clear!

The last of these can also be used in the application of the manual work collection!
