In Austin, there are only two schools offering arts related majors - the Art School and the Architecture School.
The majors offered by the Academy of Arts are: studio art (BFA and MFA), design (BFA and MFA), theatre and dance (BFA), director (MFA) and design and technology (MFA)
There are four kinds of architecture schools:
1. Garden architecture (MFA)
2. Architecture BFA (general architecture bachelor's degree, architecture research bachelor's degree, architecture bachelor's degree/architecture engineering bachelor's degree double degree course, architecture bachelor's degree/art bachelor's degree double degree course) and MFA (architecture master's degree, the first discipline and the last two bachelor's degrees).
3. Interior design BFA and MFA.
4. MFA major in urban design, double bachelor's degree in urban design and community and regional planning.
Studio Art:
Austin's studio art can be regarded as the most famous and largest studio art major in the United States. Students can learn in seven aspects: ceramics, metals, oil painting and painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and cross media.
BFA : BFA's studio art is more like a liberal arts major, with courses including language learning, art history learning, pure art learning, elective courses and studio time. Only 30 hours of class hours are in the studio, and the other 90 hours of class hours are outside the work room, so students can learn something interesting independently.
Students are required to have a good foundation in painting, 2D design, 3D design and time-based work production.
In the third and fourth years, the student union focuses on one of the seven aspects of elective courses. However, the school does not grant degrees in the above seven aspects, only a bachelor's degree in studio art.
MFA For 3-year full-time majors, students choose one of the above seven aspects to continue to develop and cultivate professional talents in the field. Teachers and students communicate frequently and have close relationships. One to one teaching provides professional guidance and education for students.
Design:
The design specialty of the college covers a wide range, from town design to garden design to web page and software interface design. Students should be able to observe and respond to cultural, social/economic, material, political, geographical and temporal environments.
BFA : Undergraduate major, students will learn some basic design courses, such as graphic design, product/industrial design, film/animation and architecture, creating mixed environment and workpiece design, as well as basic design procedures and skills.
MFA : 2 years full-time. The major cultivates the basis of each student's knowledge, skills and artistic perspective, and guides them to think about art and design independently. Professional learning starts from student research. Students choose topics of interest to study, and under the guidance of teachers, improve their design ability and self-cultivation.
Theatre and Dance
BFA This major is not purely an art major, but has many interdisciplinary contents, such as performance, directing, dancing, choreography, public practice performance, script creation, design, theater technology, drama creation, etc. The teaching schedule is free, and students have a lot of spare time to choose the course content they are interested in.
This professional application does not require a collection of works.
Director MFA:
Austin's director major provides professional training for becoming a professional director. The courses are rich in content, and students can choose freely to improve their directing skills, knowledge and practical ability in all aspects.
Professional alumni are also very powerful. Some work in large companies, and some have made famous works. Stacey Keach participated in the creation of A View from the Bridge.
There are also many opportunities for internships and work in the major. It has cooperative relationships with many large companies and provides a showcase for students to learn from practice.
Design and technology:
UT has strong professional strength in design and technology, and makes unremitting efforts to cultivate innovative design artists beyond the original design boundaries. The core of the major is to let students practice traditional and modern science and technology and design cases, guide students to explore, and design new scientific and technological products through innovation to benefit human society.
The faculty of the college is strong, and many of them are world-class talents. They will establish a close teacher-student relationship with students and guide them. There are also many internship and practice opportunities in the major, such as Alley Theatre, which provides designers and other positions.
Requirements for art overseas works collection: works in the form of physical works collection, 35mm slides, CDs, DVDs and websites are not accepted now.
Post online.
The collection of overseas art works includes 4 to 6 direct observation sketches, and at least 2 are figure paintings, animal paintings, static pictures, etc. Traditional picture media are preferred, including charcoal, colored chalk, ebony pencil, graphite and black ink.
4 to 6 2D works, including observation sketch and photography.
4 to 6 3D works, integrating works, ceramics, glassware, installation art, metal, sculpture or other 3D forms.

Architecture:
Garden architecture
Austin's MFA in landscape architecture can cultivate the ability of artists to design, especially landscape architecture design, teach skills and knowledge in this regard, and prepare students for becoming professional landscape architects in the future. There are two majors. One is for those who have knowledge and talent in architecture, but do not know much about it, and have no relevant bachelor's degree, 79 credits; Another is normally offered for Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, 48 credits. The difference between the two is that the first one takes longer than the second one. At the beginning, teach students some basic knowledge of landscape architecture, such as design, visual communication, history/theory and technology.
Bachelor of Architecture
Five years, NAAB certification in the United States, with a bright future. The course has 161 class hours, which teaches students the theoretical knowledge (history, theory) and some practical skills related to architecture, and ultimately enables students to become professional architectural talents in the future, able to cope with various challenges.
Bachelor of Architecture Studies
In the past 4 years, the major of preparatory courses in architecture is designed for students who want to continue their studies in the field of architecture in the future. In the first three years, students will learn some general education courses to lay a foundation; In the last year, students should choose the direction they are interested in.
Double bachelor's degree in architecture and construction engineering science
6 years, for some students who are interested in architectural design and architectural engineering. It is jointly established by the School of Architecture and Cockerell Engineering College.
Double degree in architecture and art
Five years+one summer, jointly opened by College of Library Arts and School of Architecture, with a strong background in humanities and architecture. It is specially designed for students who are interested in both architecture and humanities.
Architecture MFA: Austin's master of architecture is divided into two categories: the first discipline and the post bachelor.
The first discipline is intended for those students who have no architecture related education or have only accepted four years of preparatory courses. They will be awarded a master's degree after graduation to become professional architecture talents.
The second is post bachelor education, which is set up for those students who have architectural degrees in undergraduate courses. This project is more practical, focusing on architectural practice, focusing on architectural design and studio experience, teaching professional knowledge and skills in practice, such as architectural design, historical relics protection, sustainable development, urban design or interdisciplinary integration. Some students have also participated in this project more than once for the purpose of learning. No degree is awarded for this program.
Interior design:
BFA : 4-year system, professional certified by Interior Design Education Council (Canadian International Development Agency). The professional content involves the design of housing, structure, exhibition, complete equipment and furniture. From the beginning of painting and drawing, plus the history, theory, architecture and computer program application of interior design, students can gain a foothold in the interior design industry after graduation.
MFA : Interior design for master's degree mainly discusses the application of interior design research and theoretical knowledge in modern society. The college guides students to develop in their fields of interest and ultimately makes contributions to the benefit of human society. In addition, the professional faculty is strong, with 5 interior design instructors and architecture instructors teaching students around the clock, and the professional learning atmosphere is excellent.
Urban Design MFA :
There are two kinds of urban design majors and community and regional planning double degree majors. It aims to train students and prepare them for their future practice in urban design. Students must have knowledge and skills in design, history/theory and technology of urban design.
urban design :
This major is prepared for undergraduate talents with architectural degrees. The future is generally the research, practical operation or teaching of urban design. The major is based on studio learning, and design is the core of the major.
Community and regional planning double degree majors :
3 years. Compared with the previous major, this major is more practical, and most graduates are professional operators of future urban design and regional planning.
