Preet College of Art( Pratt )Learning experience

1. In the United States, professors don't really teach you anything. They use very metric teaching to let you have your own thoughts and ideas. But when your ideas are not very good, they will tell you that they always tell you to study by yourself, so most of the content is learned from books, not from professors, But many good design ideas can be learned from professors.

2. International students cannot work in school hours according to law! However, if you have an H1 visa or a student internship course, you can work in Big Apple. For students majoring in CGIM-3d animation, it is not easy to find a job in Big Apple after graduation, but it is easier to find a job in Los Angeles.

3. MS only needs 54 credits to graduate, but MFA needs 60 credits. There are many design courses at Pratt&Whitney College of Art that not only teach how to design, but also teach marketing and management, so you also need to study design history, art history or other courses.

4. If you do not pass the pre entrance English test, you will be forced to take the ESL English course. Graduate students must apply online and need three letters of introduction and study plans.

5. As for scholarships, Pratt offers scholarships for international students, but there is no need to apply and the review conditions are not open. This scholarship is called excellent applicants. As long as the application qualification is very good, there is a chance to obtain it. Generally, it is USD $3000~$5000 for one academic year. According to the budget allocated by the department, the higher one is $20000 for one year.

6. Graphic design, also known as visual communication design, is a basic discipline in all design disciplines. Previously, it was mainly focused on some printing media, but now the concept has been expanded. In Pratt, its development is to carry out some cross-border development in digital media. Therefore, graduates of visual communication can not only be qualified for some jobs such as publishing and printing, but also can do some such jobs in some IT industries, TV movies, website design, including dynamic media.
