I usually draw something I like, but I have never learned painting seriously, and I never thought I would go to art. I often buy all kinds of magazines at home. Although I like to look through these magazines, I never thought I would take the road of fashion design.

At the beginning, when we were ready to go abroad, my parents and I discussed that we were going to study media in a comprehensive college in the United States. Because both parents think that comprehensive universities have a wide way to go. If you want to change your major, you can change it at any time. I agreed with this idea at first, so I found an intermediary to apply for a comprehensive university.

But I have several friends who are studying fashion design in natural light. I see that every time they are happy to design, I am moved. In fact, I also thought about whether I was sure I was interested in clothes. After all, I was afraid that I would regret it, so I finally decided to fight for my own interest (it turns out that I don't regret it at all!). So I started my fashion design in natural light American art study The way to apply.

To be honest, as a student with zero foundation, I came to the natural light to learn the whole basic knowledge of clothing: cutting, sewing, fabric, etc., and learned a lot about clothing. But in fact, the biggest gain is how to find inspiration from the things you have experienced, seen and felt.

For the first clothing project, I designed a cyberpunk oriented clothing inspired by Love, Death and Robots and borrowed the futuristic elements.

When choosing fabrics, we chose hard yarn, matched with PU fabrics, spheres and sequins. The color direction combines the parallel universe and the sense of both retro and future of the Hong Kong architectural complex. With blue and purple as the theme colors, this Y2K costume is designed.

There is also a pure art installation in the work, which is inspired by the animation SpongeBob SquarePants. As we have been watching SpongeBob SquarePants, can SpongeBob SquarePants also look at us? As we have been exploring the ocean world and observing marine life, can they also observe us?

With the exchange of such ideas from the perspective of marine life and human beings, he made a device. I used gypsum and other materials to arrange in a square fish tank, and fixed it with drip glue to form the underwater world. With the help of a face model, let a normal human eye out of the water to focus on the human world; The other eye is in the water, keeping the attention of the underwater world at the same time, so that both eyes can watch what is happening in both worlds at the same time.

I always knew that there were interdisciplinary projects in natural light, and I was very excited when it was my turn to do interdisciplinary projects. However, as a junior high school student with zero foundation, when cooperating with two senior Chunyi students, he still worried that he would drag his feet.

But in fact, the whole process was smooth, and the sisters took care of me. If there are students with zero foundation like me who are doing interdisciplinary projects, don't be nervous. If they have opinions, they should express them. They will get many different ideas!

In this project, we discussed a social phenomenon. Now we are immersed in the network world every day, relying more and more on the network and less and less physical contact.

So we referred to the movement with the most contact of limbs - jujitsu. Based on the exclusive sportswear of jujitsu, we designed a garment, hoping that people can increase their physical contact and not close themselves to the online world.

about Study abroad in fabric design I made a clothing project, which is the boldest attempt. Combined with the popular ASMR decompression feeling, the sound is transformed into clothes.

At the beginning of the idea, we prepared to use unconventional fabrics, which should be environmentally friendly. During the research, I also tried clay, which is extensible and plastic. It's very interesting. I suggest that you should not be afraid to try when making clothes. After all, many materials need to be practiced before you know how to use them flexibly.

Finally, I want to say to the students who are going to take the road of art that there is no need to worry about zero foundation. I think the basic teaching system of natural light is very complete. However, inspiration and materials really need to be accumulated more often. You can read more books and movies and record more. If you are interested in beginners, you must make sure that you are really interested, not just on the spur of the moment.

If you want to study fashion design, I would like to say that it is not necessary to understand fashion and fashion brand to learn fashion design. Although the art discipline will limit the profession to art, it will not limit you to express your ideas. As long as you have inspiration, you can express it with art. This is the charm of art.
