As soon as the first batch of applications were completed, the offer rain of natural light began to rain. So far, we have received dozens of offers from Parsons, RCA, CCA, Kingston, Edinburgh, RMIT... There are more than 1910000 yuan of scholarships. We just shared two days ago and won the first offer from Huangyi in 2020. Today, the second letter also came! Huang Yi is also a photography major! In 2020, Huangyi will register for the first batch of offers! Let's talk about Huangyi's photography major today?
Wang Yue, the hero of the offer, also shared his luck with us with his experience. From the end of three years of work life to natural light, he took less than two weeks to make decisions, from beginning to explore another possibility of life to harvest Royal College of Art He still only used 5 months for his approval. The past study and work experience has brought him professional precipitation, but also gave him the courage to change. Self knowledge, self-confidence and freedom are the themes of his photography works, and also his attitude towards life. Next, let Wang Yue tell us his story.

How about Huangyi's photography major? The first batch of offers of Huangyi in 2020
The current application of Wangyue has not been completely completed, and is still busy preparing the fourth project in the collection of works. This interview is also a gap for Wangyue to share some experience and hope to pass on good luck to everyone after the first batch of applications are submitted~
Before the interview, I saw the photography works of Wangyue during the natural light homework class (because it is still in the process of application, it is not convenient to share with you today, in short, it is very exciting, and I hope you will continue to pay attention and look forward to the case summary later). At that time, a calm and profound image of senior students emerged in my mind, but soon Wangyue's "contrast is cute" It breaks the "prejudice" of natural light. Wangyue's views on work and learning, his insistence on pure art photography, his understanding and gratitude to teachers, and his steadfastness and optimism in his words will also affect you
1. Work is a task, but learning is relaxation and happiness
I decided to go in May this year Art study abroad After quitting my job, natural light came on June 12. It has been less than half a year since then, and I have begun to be grateful for the decision I made at that time.
My undergraduate major is editing and directing. Since then, I have been engaged in photography. For about three years after graduation, I have been engaged in photography of fashion and commercial advertising. But my work is more like a task than a direction I am really interested in.
I think the essence of photography should be more pure. The type of photography I like is more pure art. Later, when I was working, I met two friends who were studying abroad. What they were doing and the direction of study were exactly what I was very interested in, which also aroused my idea of studying abroad.
It's only half a month since I started thinking and came to the natural light. I can still take action!
Because I want to study in a clear direction, I soon targeted several universities in the UK. How about applying for the photography major of Huangyi? After several exchanges with professional teachers, the next learning plan was determined.

2. In order to take good pictures, the teacher asked me to learn from reading and writing
When it comes to professional teachers, I still appreciate him, and he really gave me a lot of substantive help. When I first came here, I was very confident in my photography skills. I started theme creation directly without taking basic courses. But in fact, the hardest part for photography majors is to choose themes.
At the beginning, the teacher asked me to choose some interesting directions to discuss with him, but I may have been engaged in commercial photography for too long, and there are some errors in the way of thinking, often unable to find some divergent themes and angles. Later, the teacher gave me many papers, artists' works and literature materials to take back for research, and let me discuss after reading them.
At first, I didn't understand, because it was really difficult These all English photographic documents are usually boring, with many strange words. It takes a lot of time to read them. The teacher also asked me to take notes!
I really treat them as hard bones and try to summarize something from my own point of view after eating them. This learning method really gave me a lot of inspiration later, and the most important thing is to change a lot of my views on pure art photography.
Many people say that the threshold for photography is low. Now I don't agree with it. In fact, the simpler things are, the more important the purpose is. Without the accumulation of theory and experience, it is difficult to shoot interesting things. This is also my biggest insight in this learning process.
After the opening of the topic, the later work was relatively smooth, but it was still necessary to constantly add new inspiration materials. The teacher also accompanied me in the process to straighten out the logical order, look for reference cases, and steadily completed three projects before the first round of application of Huangyi.
3. The only thing that can really cope with the changes is strength
How about Huangyi's photography major? Huangyi has changed a lot this year, but I don't know whether I was immersed in the creation of works and didn't respond or whether the teacher broke my heart for me. Anyway, I didn't make any special preparations, so I passed the exam smoothly.
The 2mins creation video is also within my "shooting range". Because many of my past learning and working experiences are video shooting and editing, it is relatively easy to do it. I use a mirror to mirror approach.
Next, I will briefly talk about my three works. Because I have several schools still applying, I can't share my photos with you for the time being.
My first work is about time, urbanization and my hometown. Earlier this year, I went back to my hometown and interviewed some friends and elders about what had happened in the town over the years. I also went to a flea market, bought an old book of the Qing Dynasty, tried to analyze the reasons for this change from some literature records, and then used documentary methods to record the traces of time and nature with a camera. The research part of this work is relatively documentary, but the final work is relatively abstract, and the style of the whole work I hope is close to the feeling of Sugimoto Bosi's Sea.
For the second project, I have made a book. I want to study the essence of photography in the way of photography. The final exhibition actually has no photography, and is more about recording the process of creation. I used photos to record the demolition process of a very successful paper mill. Some of the blurred photos caused by the noise and vibration of the factory work were also left and included in the album. Finally, I invited the local residents to tear up every page of the book. I hope they can feel the meaning of disappearance in the process.
The third project is also my personal favorite. This work is called "Mountain". Before this project, I read some papers and books about the nature and development of photography. I took "time" as the theme of my work. I found an old model to record his body changes. At the same time, I also recorded the process of my own shooting.
In the final work, I just showed the shooting process, not my final film. I hope to guide the audience to use their personal feelings and experiences to imagine what a picture is. This is a way for me to explore the boundaries of photography.
There are three projects in the collection of works applied for by Huangyi. The fourth project I'm still working on is relatively more comprehensive. I want to use more technology, and the final product should be more interactive devices.
4. Like you, I also look forward to more surprises in the future
I know there are many other students who are busy preparing their portfolios or college applications like me. I just completed the first batch of applications and tasted some success, but the portfolios have not been completely completed. I still want to apply for LCC London School of Communication And the Camberwell Academy of Arts.
So it's not a successful experience, so let's talk about my suggestions:
For the students who want to apply for photography next, my advice is to prepare as soon as possible! The collection of works is really not just a photo we want to take. The choice of theme and the accumulation of theory are very important. Students can also see more good works in their daily life. Whether it is text or other art forms, the accumulation of materials is very helpful.
Then, try to participate in some quality workshops or admissions officers. In natural light, as long as I have time, I will go to the workshop, which is really helpful. For my creation project, some courses of art history and contemporary art related humanistic theory are very enlightening!
I have really enjoyed the whole learning process in natural light. Compared with the pressure of work, I feel that the creative process is particularly practical and relaxed, growing every day.
So for the next time to test the results, I am also full of confidence. Optimistic people will never have bad luck. Let's encourage each other!
