Does the epidemic of pneumonia affect overseas students? Like everyone else, until today, teachers of natural light are still keeping an eye on the changes and development of the epidemic. In the face of such an international public health emergency, more and more countries and regions have responded. Recently, we have also received many messages from students and parents, especially many parents and friends, who are very concerned about the impact of the epidemic on students. Through the screen, parents' anxiety, confusion and nervousness made us feel the same. Especially when domestic universities began to postpone enrollment, overseas countries and other countries began to implement various epidemic prevention policies, many parents began to express their concerns and doubts with professional teachers of natural light.

In the process of education, parents' care, encouragement, support, and guidance have a profound impact on children. Each of us is also the best case, not to mention on the road of art study. The current epidemic situation is "the first time in life" for most art students abroad. At this time, the guidance and help of parents have become the greatest courage and confidence of children.

Does the epidemic of pneumonia affect overseas students?

Question 1: Can I study abroad now? All colleges and universities have postponed the start of school, or should we wait until the epidemic is over?

From the beginning of the epidemic, to the attention of the public, to the current outbreak across the country, in just over 50 days, we have experienced confirmed cases from Wuhan to the whole country and the world.

We understand the feelings of parents at this moment, because many teachers in all departments of natural light have become parents, so we know how worried we are as parents at this time. However, because of this, at this time, parents' mentality is more important than children's mentality. Especially for students who are still in high school, we should be more sober than children, so as to help children get through the psychological or emotional fluctuations caused by the epidemic. Most students are in great need of parents' support at this time. Teachers and parents should help children calm down and treat them positively.

Although WHO has now officially listed China as PHEIC, and several countries have successively introduced restrictive entry policies for tourists from mainland China, these are all measures against the epidemic, not permanent restrictions. Therefore, when the epidemic is over or has been effectively controlled, all countries will still welcome Chinese students to study.

Secondly, colleges and universities in various countries will not refuse to admit Chinese students because of the epidemic, nor will they lower the admission conditions for Chinese students. We still need to prepare the collection of works and document application. Even if the epidemic situation is still in the future, the application team of Natural Light will assist students to complete further communication with the school as soon as possible and try to negotiate the best solution.

Different from other major categories of study abroad majors, although the preparation period for art study abroad seems to be longer, every minute and every second has a specific "process" to correspond to it, which is actually related to the collection of works. The preparation period of the collection of works is as short as 3-4 months. Once delayed, it may face the risk of being delayed for one year.

In addition, almost all overseas colleges and universities have tacitly observed the rule of "catching up early rather than late". For example, in 2019, RCA/Huangyi suddenly changed the application requirements and collection requirements, and the collection submission time for students was only about one month. In this case, many students who have completed the collection of works before do not panic, because the collection of works has basically ended. At this time, they only need to make targeted adjustments according to the requirements of the school; But for the students who had not finished their works at that time, this kind of institutional change was very dangerous. Therefore, we do not suggest that we suspend classes blindly.

Moreover, the epidemic will not become a "quasi pass" for colleges and universities to review students' comprehensive ability. All universities will still fairly and impartially assess whether students can be admitted based on their professional ability and comprehensive strength. This epidemic is a public health event of global concern. At present, Chinese students have more advantages to produce fresh thinking and design, and are more confident to apply to good schools.

In addition, thinking from another perspective, we can still insist on not going out, but this period of time at home is actually the best time for learning, and also an opportunity for deeper communication with children. We can calm down and plan and prepare with children. Our courses can be completed safely and without contact through online teaching.

Question 2: Is it necessary to adjust the application status and time planning due to the epidemic situation?

First of all, for the students who enter in the spring of 2020, in fact, at this time, everyone has basically been waiting for the reply from the school, and has determined which school they will eventually go to. However, due to the impact of the epidemic, many countries have introduced policies that prohibit Chinese tourists (including foreigners who have visited China) from entering the country.

However, as far as our application is concerned, most schools have not refused to enroll Chinese students due to the impact of the current epidemic, or directly issued deferred offers without consultation. Even recently, we have been receiving good news from major art schools. Of course, this is mainly for students from 2020 Fall. Because of the special time, our application team is also working hard to contact the students' application institutions to strive for the best way to enroll.

For parents and friends, we can communicate more with our children, understand their ideas, and understand each other's attitude towards art study in this special period through communication, so as to make further planning with teachers in professional institutions more effectively. For example, everyone should list the application timeline, goals, application status, current needs, etc. of the child, and make more targeted adjustments and arrangements in combination with the epidemic.

Most of the time, parents will ignore their influence on the psychological level, especially in this special period, children are easily affected. Then, we can just use this time to better communicate and understand children's ideas, so as to guide children to judge and make decisions more effectively.

In the application process of children, as parents, there are many things we can do. Through the long-term contact during this period, we can really open our hearts to children and establish in-depth communication and trust relationships.

Question 3: Is online class reliable? How to ensure the quality of online teaching?

At present, the epidemic is serious, and natural light is also very concerned about the health and safety of each student. Since the epidemic was announced, natural light has started the epidemic prevention system and started to prepare the corresponding emergency measures. After many discussions, we also proposed to change offline lessons to online lessons at the first time.

Online class is a very safe, convenient and flexible way of teaching. For students, it is more suitable for rapid inspiration communication. Since its inception, natural light has been assisted by online teaching and offline teaching in many ways. At present, more than 40% of our students interact with teachers through online learning.

We know that both students and parents are worried about online classes because they can't see the teacher, can't communicate with the teacher directly face to face, and can't make eye contact with the teacher. In our student cases, there are many students who have taken the whole course and received high-quality offers.

At present, we have also actively launched a number of series to meet the learning needs of students during the epidemic. First of all, in terms of the collection of works, we have launched 1v1 online courses. Using QQ, WeChat or Xiaoyuyilian, students and teachers can interact like offline classes, and can transfer files at any time. In addition, the natural light insists on playing back the course content, which can be viewed repeatedly after class to strengthen and consolidate. The teacher can also track students' learning progress at any time through the online system.

Secondly, in such a special period, the Natural Light Teaching and Research Center also arranged one-on-one communication with teachers of six major departments at the first time, not only to help teachers sort out their psychological emotions, but also to analyze the current learning needs and progress of each student together with teachers, combined with free master open classes, overseas admissions officer open classes and other exclusive online resources for barrier free teaching.

Teachers conduct real-time online teaching and interact with students in the classroom at the first time, and the teaching quality will not be reduced by switching to online teaching. For different series of courses and majors, the Natural Light Teaching and Research Center also puts forward rigid requirements for teachers.

When it comes to teaching, many parents have said "I don't understand this" and "I support you when you make a decision". But although "I don't understand", parents' worries and concerns are always on the surface. Chinese parents are often not good at expressing their feelings directly with their children. More parents are willing to pay behind their backs rather than express their wishes and suggestions directly with their children. In fact, it is easy to cause misunderstanding between children and parents.

But now, we are also very happy to invite you and your children to experience the safe and efficient teaching method of online classes, experience the classroom professionalism and teaching quality with us and children, and help them better and more effectively by understanding art education and the professional content they are learning.

Does the epidemic of pneumonia affect overseas students? Above all, we have interpreted the most concerned questions in the near future, hoping that such answers can release the anxiety and worry of parents and friends at this time. In the face of the current epidemic, coupled with the critical moment of art study abroad, children need more understanding and support from their parents than ever before. Because many children have never experienced it, they need "seniors" to help them get through such a special period, and the best seniors are naturally parents.

Studying abroad in art has never been a personal affair, it is a part of children's growth. We need to respect children's choices and support their ideas, but don't forget that they also need guidance and equal communication. There are many ways to love, and there are also many ways to express respect for children. At present, we are facing a serious epidemic, so we need to respect and understand each other even more.

In artistic creation, "communication" is very important. It can not only stimulate artists' creative ideas, but also stimulate the interaction between the audience and artists; For parents and children, communication and mutual recognition may be an opportunity, because "communication", so mutual recognition; They are also more willing to communicate because of mutual recognition. Under the mutual catalysis, the epidemic situation is not terrible, and we are also confident to meet the good results together.
