The relationship between space and people is always inseparable. Whether it is a natural ecological space or an artificial architectural space, we are all shaping the space of life, and space is reshaping us, affecting our mood and activities. The magical influence of space on people makes us constantly explore the composition, order, color, light, material and form of space, Countless combination games have given us countless surprises. How to learn space design? Why does space affect our feelings? What role does space play in people and society? Why are some buildings depressing? Some are pleasant?

In March, there was a keynote speech forum, two hours of discussion and exchange, four topics shared by four guests, wonderful interactions among more than 100 guests, and forms, functions and experiences in the overall space design.

Form,Function and Interaction In Holistic Space Design

In this exciting evening, we gathered talented and outstanding space designers, architects, artists and product designers, four guests from different fields to share their ideas, so that design is no longer limited to a single field of communication, and the sparks from cross-border collisions are also surprising.

In this event, more than 100 participants gathered to listen to the speech of the design lecturer from the world's most prestigious art and design courses. The speech was hosted by Chris Jessick, director of the Natural Light Art Creative Project and director of the Overseas Business Department.

Speech at the theme forum of space design

   Theme of the forum:

The theme of this seminar on how to learn space design is "form, function and experience in overall space design", and the topic focuses on furniture, space and lighting design. Speakers from different art fields have a consensus that space design is a combination of humanity and ideas, and people should be able to communicate directly with the space they are in, rather than just join the space. When designers need to create an overall environment around people, they should consider comprehensively from the perspective of people's experience and cannot ignore any aspect.

The discussion started with the guidance of excellent practitioners in the fields of landscape, architecture, space, art, and products, and discussed the value of effective functions, high art and design aesthetics, and how user experience affects user interaction experience in the space. It also realized the integration of design resources and the sustainability and breakthrough of design ideas in cross-border integration, with a view to helping more designers to seek more expansion in design fields through this discussion.

Take this opportunity

At the end of the activity, I brought my own words

Chris Jessick

In our previous enrollment work, we attached great importance to students' interdisciplinary thinking. Of course, this is also true in teaching. Just like this seminar, we gathered architects, artists and product designers. I believe that all of you here must come from different fields. Many design disciplines have had a lot of integration and interaction at some levels, such as the academic level, but there is not so much in practice, at least we don't do much.

Therefore, the guests we invited to participate in this speech not only have rich overseas background and experience, but also have different experiences to share with you, bringing you design inspiration from more perspectives. I think we should also provide more such platforms for young people and students in the future, so that we can connect with designers and artists from different industries and backgrounds, share our information here, and better also promote the intersection of more disciplines.

The good design industry environment is very suitable for bringing students closer to each other. In addition to studying at ordinary times, we can get closer to the society to contact artists and designers, and better understand the current situation of the art industry. It does not mean that we must contact some well-known masters at home and abroad, because sometimes what they say and have resources need us to further study before we can understand. For our students of these ages, there is no direct reference. However, some young designers and artists with overseas returnees' backgrounds, who are gradually becoming popular and rising, are relatively more similar to the students' age and background. The development experience and design experience of these young designers and artists along the way are more worthy of children's learning and reference.

This seminar is different from the traditional form of speech. It is not an endless talk by the main speaker. The audience is listening below. During the activity, we have always encouraged everyone to discuss the major topics in the theme with the keynote speakers. Later, we also have the opportunity to chat with guests and meet them face to face. This kind of activity is a very valuable opportunity for students, because the speech is not only to listen to the speaker's in-depth idea sharing, or to see the new design ideas coming out of different fields, but also to get answers to your questions from celebrities at a higher cognitive level.
