Natural light: You majored in environmental art during your undergraduate study. Why did the master want to apply for the major of interior design?
I majored in environmental design when I was an undergraduate, which should be considered as a change of major application. However, environmental design has already included two professional directions of interior design and landscape design, so I actually had a little contact with interior design when I was in college.
During our college years, we have studied interior design for a long time. For example, our freshmen and sophomores have been studying interior design all the time. This is also the time when I became interested in interior design and wanted to develop my study in the direction of interior design.
Because I think the major of interior design is very interesting. Compared with the major of environmental design, it pays attention to many details, such as the design of small things or objects. Natural light: You just mentioned that the professional teacher gave you some advice on school selection. What is the best help that the teacher can give you in the course of works collection?
The first is the supplement of basic knowledge. Although I majored in environmental design as an undergraduate, and was also exposed to a part of the professional field of interior design, I still feel that there is no special systematic cognitive system, or a relatively comprehensive cognitive process.

The second is the improvement of thinking. Most of the projects are relatively fixed. Natural light: What do you think is the difference between natural light and domestic universities?
In the natural light, it feels more targeted. Teachers are more professional and try their best to teach me personally and the project itself.
My undergraduate learning environment is the kind you know. Like most universities in China, there are fewer teachers and more students, so it is not targeted. In fact, it is really difficult for teachers to take into account the ideas of each student, and it is also difficult for us to have our own special personality development space.
Secondly, when I was in school, I would pay special attention to the results of my homework, that is, how to complete the project. I seldom want to incorporate my own ideas or concepts into the design. I also didn't think deeply about specific issues, such as whether my ideas in this project are reasonable and can really be implemented.
But in natural light, the teacher's teaching mainly focuses on thinking guidance. First, it inspires my interest. Through some small projects, cooperative experiments, or simple ten minute small interactions, I can find some interesting points in this major. Natural light: Can you tell us your feelings in terms of specific projects?
In my collection of works, there is a project with the tea house in Taikoo Li, Chengdu as the main design object. When I first thought about this project, my ideas were relatively basic, and I did not do anything to expand my thinking.
It is relatively simple to think about. It still stays in the form of school homework, which is a relatively fixed school style. There is no special integration of their own ideas and consciousness, and there is no "interdisciplinary" dimension scheme building.
After listening to my preliminary construction plan, the professional tutor did not directly deny my idea, but heuristic. He led me to do a survey first, and made a systematic survey of the teahouse itself and the whole Taikoo Li. Including the environment, facilities, man's line of action, surrounding architectural layout, etc.
Secondly, I also looked up a lot of historical related materials. After reading these materials and research, I slowly began to think of many interesting points that can be tried in depth, such as those related to Chinese gardens, or those combined with landscape paintings. At this time, I really felt that research was important to the development of the whole scheme and thinking. It is precisely because of these surveys that I can make more divergent breakthroughs in my ideas.
Finally, in the design stage, the teacher also guided me to abstract, graphic and visual elements of some concrete elements. Through this flexible transformation of concrete objects, I also got a lot of design inspiration and elements that can further deepen the project.
After that, I made another in-depth presentation of the project, and the project was finally over. This should be a project that I feel deeply, because it is also a project that I did when I first got to the natural light.
I am not familiar with many ways of overseas learning and design ideas, but professional instructors have always been very responsible. They took me to start with small exercises, did a lot of brainstorming and thought divergence experiments, and then started the formal interdisciplinary application room space design portfolio course. But during the course, we are also constantly doing some preliminary and mid-term reviews to see if the work we have done before is the best plan.
Natural light: The above project should be considered as a professional one. Have you made any more bold attempts in your portfolio?
I have a project that is combined with fashion design. I don't know whether it is a bold attempt. In this project, I first selected a clothing brand. This clothing brand itself highly advocates the concept of large space, such as space, and it has a series of clothing, which is designed with space as the design concept.
So my project is to design a display space for this series of clothing of this brand. When I first saw this series of clothes, I felt that it was highly consistent with my ideas, so I wanted to try to put it in my works.
However, it is difficult to better combine two different majors or fields. So the professional teacher of natural light took me to make many interesting attempts. First of all, I started from my idea to see what theme I wanted to express and how the theme intersected in space and clothing.
Because the inspiration of this series of clothing is "space", I used clothing materials as space display materials, designed booths, facades, etc., and built a display space for it.

Among all the projects of Shi Ning, there is a very special project. This project is a natural light "Pinsi Cup" competition project. In this project, the design theme is very fixed. It is to design a public welfare library for Shaojue County Ethnic Middle School. As a contestant, it is necessary to plan and design the library in terms of volume, structure, materials, space, function, etc. in combination with the design language and local cultural and historical traditions.
Shi Ning also actively participated in such a challenging topic. This is her first project in the field of architecture, so the difficulty has also increased.

This project was participated together with natural light in May and June this year. This project combines many professional students, such as architecture, interior design, environmental art, industrial design. Many professional students participated in this project.
I have learned a lot about this project. First of all, it can be said that this is the first time I have really come into contact with the construction project. While this project is going on, I also have a certain understanding of some basic architectural knowledge. Secondly, in the design process, I have more choices and directions in the research part, such as starting from the local Yi culture, consulting materials, according to the local records, step by step research, I found the element of Yi characters.
The teacher guided me to combine this element with architecture. Through the continuous adjustment of several schemes, the elements were abstractly used. I had a deep understanding of the combination of the surrounding environment and the relationship between architecture, as well as the relationship between people and architecture.
In the whole process of the project, we also had two presentations, and communicated with some experienced teachers in architecture. Then we found some problems still existing in our own scheme, as well as the implementable scheme I did not expect, and realized the significance of continuity design, so that I will consider more comprehensively in the future design.
