Determine subject


It is difficult to start everything. A unique topic with research value is the key to the success of the portfolio project, and it is also the difficulty that students often have a headache. But at present, due to the restrictions on going out, the way we suggested to collect materials through field research and practice is not feasible for the time being, so how can we expand our thinking and find inspiration online?


It is impossible to find good ideas just by sitting in front of the computer and searching major design websites and looking through second-hand materials. We should return to the essence to broaden our knowledge reserves and cultivate a brain that is good at finding and thinking. In order to achieve the learning task at this stage, the courses developed by the National Teaching and Research Center of Natural Light and led by tutors of six major departments and overseas professors can be divided into two types in form: recording and broadcasting. At present, we have accumulated more than 1000 courses covering all disciplines of six major departments, including software skills, art sharing, institutional analysis, humanistic thinking, etc.


The live broadcast courses led by the tutors of the six major departments are usually one-on-one/small class courses, which can follow up the students' learning status, review the difficult points and doubts at any time, push students to efficiently complete the accumulation of materials in the form of phased course tasks, and then expand through real-time discussions in class and off class to finally determine the theme.

During this period, we will continue to find our own ability weaknesses, which need to be constantly supplemented and upgraded.


In this phase of learning tasks, students must strengthen communication with professional teachers, so under the leadership of the Teaching and Research Center, we have also developed a lot of thinking expansion courses, including the recent International Education Resources Open Month, which is corresponding to the overseas education model, and carried out eight blocks of learning content, including overseas professors' cloud viewing exhibitions, double teacher gathering classes Recruiters' creative training camp, online workshop and other courses stimulate students' inspiration from different dimensions, broaden information access and enrich the project theme.


In fact, the course of portfolio project at this stage is also mainly in the form of one-on-one. Professional teachers need to guide students to conduct a lot of research and experiments, and gradually derive the project prototype in the process of repeated deliberation and deepening.


Secondly, the teaching and research center also encourages portfolio tutors to help students. Under the premise of ensuring learning energy and reasonable planning of learning plans, multiple topics are determined at the same time, and the early inspiration collection and research are carried out simultaneously, so as to enrich the early details as much as possible and ensure the completion of the project.


Creative Practice


The final stage of visual transformation and even some physical construction projects are also the most worried part at this stage. Many practical majors are trapped in the bottleneck of creation due to some limitations in materials and venues, including the current situation of the course form, and the inability of distance teaching to achieve hand to hand guidance.


Although there are objective obstacles in the online portfolio creation tutorial at this stage, it is not impossible to solve them. Recently, the Natural Light Teaching and Research Center has focused on teaching methods, curriculum forms, improving class experience and other dimensions in the phased teaching guidance of the portfolio instructors.

Short term portfolio project


The above are the three stages of conventional portfolio creation. In the face of this year's anxious situation and the shortening of the preparation time, we also need to prepare more energetic solutions. Among them, short-term courses that can guarantee the substantive output of the portfolio project and the curriculum results in different dimensions are the directions that students can focus on.


Taking into account the learning needs under the special situation this year, the Natural Light Teaching and Research Center has also adjusted its teaching plan, covering three major professional fields of clothing, interaction and pure art, and launched the "Double Teacher Gathering Class" in cooperation with professional courses.


This short-term course lasts for two months. It innovatively adopts the mode of double teachers cooperating with online teaching London Fashion Institute Led by popular department heads of three top universities, and assisted by senior art tutors with overseas background, the course results are controlled;


The form of the course is exquisite small class. The purpose of the two months is to directly produce high-quality portfolio projects.
