Landscape Architecture
The landscape architecture major of the University of Tennessee is an interdisciplinary major jointly taught by the School of Architecture and Design and the School of Agricultural Science and Natural Resources, integrating the well-known professor resources, teaching equipment resources and strategic cooperation between the two colleges. Such a subject that spans the fields of art and science can give students the best landscape architecture education. This cooperative relationship also cultivates the cooperative spirit of students, which is very important for contemporary research and professional practice.
This major offers three degrees: Master of Landscape Architecture, Master of Arts in Landscape Architecture,Master of Science in Landscape.
ceramics
In the graduate stage, the University of Tennessee provides MFA programs focusing on sculpture. This MFA degree is a three-year program, which encourages students to have higher aesthetic and artistic achievements through self guided exploration. Professional dialogue, discussion and critical thinking are the core of this major. In this project, independent studio work is matched with intensive research on critical, conceptual and historical issues. Graduate students can not only learn together with the teachers of the Department of Ceramics and Sculpture, but also have access to the outstanding professors and visiting artists of the entire art school.
Oil painting/sketch
The MFA project of oil painting and sketch aims to guide students to become professional practical artists. This major emphasizes exploration and analysis, and studies oil painting and sketch with an open attitude. This major has been seeking to help students consider the personal environment, social environment and historical environment of their works. Through course learning, the aim is to cultivate students' ability to think independently, orally and write about their artistic practice. The teachers of oil painting and sketch also have their own artistic creation characteristics, but they are also very professional and active, and have held many personal exhibitions at local, national and international levels.
Printmaking
The regular courses of print production project include intaglio printing, lithography, paper making, silk printing, etc., with emphasis on traditional and exploratory technologies and concepts. In judging the achievements of students' academic works, we do not particularly emphasize one aspect of style, technology or aesthetics, but pay attention to the quality of individual works, which is regarded as the judging standard. Students of the University of Tennessee's School of Arts can enjoy all the printmaking tools provided by the school, from traditional to digital. Mastering the use of these tools enables artists to choose the appropriate media and skills needed to make prints for a particular concept.
Sculpture
The Sculpture Department has many well-equipped studios, including digital media laboratories, timber shops, large foundries and metal shops, and has dedicated personnel for long-term maintenance. The faculty members of the Sculpture Department of the University of Tennessee also provide students with rich resources, giving them more opportunities to participate in off campus sculpture activities, public art projects and local community activities.
Cross media design
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, majoring in cross media design, is the combination of graphic design and 4D project. This three-year MFA program encourages students to conduct independent research and exploration on contemporary design and contemporary media events, and to explore the relationship between tradition and emerging for a long time. The work of the studio involves interaction design, design strategy, social change, video, film, performance, sound effect art and so on. After further study, there are some more advanced research courses on systems, sequencing and spatial theory.
