Course description
Camberwell is the only art college in the UK that has set up a master's degree in book art, with students from all over the world. This is an emerging field, and digital media and popular online publications have injected vitality into its development. Books are no longer the traditional information carrier. Book artists are leading books to become a medium. The core of this course is the position of books in art practice, which is taught by experienced teachers and artists. Students are encouraged to explore the concept of books, including the form and function of books, as well as the analysis of its historical background and practical practice.
Research learning is supplemented by lectures, seminars and workshops to develop your research skills, professional practice and understanding of book art as part of art and design practice. There are shared lecture programs in the visual arts courses, drawing on the rich research experience of the college and even the whole graduate school.
We also provided students with many opportunities outside the college, such as participating in Artists' Book Fairs in the stands, going to Tate, John Latham's Flat Time House, and visiting special exhibits in the National Art Library of V&A Museum. The opportunity to display works in public exhibitions allows students to explore "extended" books in exhibitions or installations.
