What does FIT major in game design learn? FIT offers an undergraduate major that includes the teaching content of game design BFA animation, interactive media and game design. The teaching plan of this major is very comprehensive, including almost all courses in the skill field in the three directions of animation, interactive media and game design. Graduates can independently complete a complete game or animation including script, storyboard, modeling, characters, animation, lighting, synthesis, sound editing, music and special effects, etc.

Then a new online game design course was launched in cooperation with Yellowbrick, a well-known data company in the United States, and enrollment officially began in the eighth year of this year.

  Note: FIT's BFA program offers one of the most comprehensive computer animation, interactive media and game design courses in the country. (Applicants must have an associate or bachelor's degree, or 60 bachelor's degree credits.)

In the whole learning plan, the first year is dominated by professional skills teaching. In addition, the courses are carried out in the form of individual or group studios. These courses are taught by active industry professionals, most of whom are experts in the latest technology fields.


Students will learn to design and produce interactive works and video games with different themes, and explore various media, such as physical computing, projection mapping, virtual reality, digital cameras and other emerging technologies.

Although FIT is a BFA degree, it requires applicants to have an associate's degree or bachelor's degree, or 60 bachelor's degree credits. It also has high requirements for portfolio projects.


   Application requirements for game design:


You should have completed the following prerequisites (or equivalent) before applying. The work of these courses should be included in your portfolio during the interview at the beginning of the spring semester.


CG 211 - Computer Aided Design/Photoshop


CG 212-3D Modeling/3DS Max or other introduction


CG 213-2D Animation/Photoshop and After Effects


CG 221 - Design and Creation of Interactive Media I


Your animation, interactive media and game design portfolio should include graphics, computer files and examples of major design work:

Drawings should be human, animal or natural studies conducted through direct observation. Copying from 2D images is not recommended. If possible, include hand gestures and quick sketches in their original format and size. A sketch book is also recommended. Drawing may use pencil/ink, marker, charcoal, etc.


Computer files (Please bring a list of all files and file formats.)


Work on prerequisite courses (or equivalent courses), including After Effects; Use HTML, CSS, Javascript or other scripting languages for interactive work; And 3D models using 3D Studio Max, Maya, or other 3D programs. Bring all project files with you. Carry all the 3D models you have, including exercises and ongoing work.


Examples of work collections in professional fields. Computer operation can be displayed on DVD, portable drive or portable computer.

After qualifying your application, Animation, Interactive Media and Game Design will contact you for a personal portfolio assessment and personal interview. Please do not send your works to the Admissions Office.
