The Master of Interior Design (MFA-2) is a two-year terminal degree program that provides senior creative and academic scholarships in interior design for professionals in interior design, architecture, environmental design and related fields. This full-time course is our most conceptual and open to those who have professional degrees in interior design, architecture or related fields.

        Master of Sustainable Interior Environment

　　Master of Professional Studies in Sustainable Interior Environments

MPS in the sustainable indoor environment (MPS-S) is a post professional program structure, which enables design professionals to assume a leading role. In the development and maintenance of sustainable indoor space, it will positively affect the world. All courses are offered at night and on weekends. You can register for full-time, part-time or online learning, and provide on-site courses through video conferences.

      Master of Lighting Design

　　Master of Professional Studies in Lighting Design

Master of Lighting Design (MPS-L) is a professional degree one year later, which provides strict educational art and scientific architectural lighting design. All classes are held at night and on weekends.

　　 Postgraduate Interior Design Portfolio Requirements:

Project portfolio requirements vary from project to project.

　　 MFA-2 MPS in lighting design, and MPS in sustainable indoor environment: The applicant must submit an interior design portfolio of at least 15 design works. The applicant must have professional design skills, and the opinions of the Graduate Admissions Committee enable the applicant to successfully carry out advanced learning.

　　 MFA-1 : Applicants can choose whether to apply for interior design collection. If it is a collection of works, it should include art based on various media, which can include still life composition, sculpture, landscape, portrait, graphic research and/or rendering of indoor space. Make full use of color, proportion and perspective.

　　 Letter of Recommendation for Studying Abroad : 2 copies.

University transcripts: WES assessment is required regardless of the teaching language, not any transcripts from outside the United States. WES evaluation will translate the students' academic certificates into English and convert their scores into American grading standards.

MFA candidates pay tuition fees by semester (autumn and spring) every year, and pay tuition fees in summer respectively. Candidates pay tuition fees for each credit; Part time students should receive at least 6 credits per semester.

MFA-1 candidates must take 506 experiential learning I (3 credits) in the first summer and 606 experiential learning II (3 credits) in the second summer. Mfa-2 candidates have no compulsory courses in summer courses.

Most courses require additional lab fees, textbooks, supplies, and museum admission fees. Some undergraduate courses require additional fees. The supplementary fees are used to support the specific costs of individual courses, including but not limited to the continuing need for teaching modernization, updating teaching resources and course content, and providing adequate support to ensure the daily effective operation of the teaching room and classroom, including physical and virtual teaching.

Each graduate student will provide a computer on his or her desk, and the cost is included in the tuition.

NYSID reserves the right to change the tuition and fee schedule. Students who choose to participate in NYSID must pay a non refundable tuition deposit to ensure their position in the program. All fees and tuition deposit are non refundable.

The undergraduate degree can be part-time or full-time MFA programs only for full-time programs All Master of Professional Studies (MPS) programs offer evening and weekend courses so that students can work during the day (9-5 days). MPS lighting design and MPS sustainable indoor environment can be full-time (12 credits per semester) or part-time (6 credits per semester).

　　 If I am not sure whether interior design is suitable for me, what class should I take?

If you want to know whether interior design is suitable for you, the best start is our interior design studio, through our continuous and professional research institute. This course provides a general overview of the major of interior design and allows you to start some basic projects. This course cannot be applied to degree courses in the future.

If you want to study for an interior design degree, but want to start slowly, you can choose courses on a non admission basis.

　　 Where can I apply for scholarships/grants?

All NYSID undergraduate scholarships and graduate grants are awarded based on performance. For consideration, applicants must have:
