The Bachelor of Visual Arts at Australian National University is a three-year full-time degree program. Students in this major can major in any of the disciplines offered by the college.
In the first year, full-time students sign up for four 6-credit courses every two semesters: major research, two core courses and art theory courses. In the following years, three courses will be taken each semester: 12 credits for major research, 6 credits for auxiliary learning and 6 credits for art theory.
The choice of art theory courses is that every learning is changing. The second auxiliary learning course covers all aspects of visual art practice, including the use of new technologies such as computer-based design and multimedia applications. The comparative study is also designed for other art theory courses or other research fields of the studio.
Design Art
The purpose of the Bachelor of Design Arts program is to enable graduates to take advantage of changing opportunities in the creative arts industry, especially in professional/commercial product design and small-scale individual craft production. At present, we provide the following specialties: ceramics, furniture, glass, gold and silver, sculpture and textiles, as well as manual drawing and computer-aided design and technology.
The professional courses of art design are structurally dead, sharing space resources and professional knowledge with the bachelor of visual arts courses. Through project-based courses, they also develop design results oriented to professional applications.

Art theory and assisted learning courses are designed specifically for the Bachelor of Design Arts.
The goal of this course is to enable students to become professional designers/producers of contemporary craft and design practice, cultivate creative, critical, analytical, research and communication skills, and enable students to participate in and contribute to practice and theoretical discourse in their professional fields. Provide personal support and academic guidance for students, and make wise judgments and choices on their learning and career development paths.
Film and New Media
The film and new media course at Australian National University aims to provide students with a solid foundation in all major aspects of film culture. In addition to the aesthetics, theory and cultural history of films generally covered, the course also provides courses: European films, documentaries, new media, dramas and films.
This course also draws on film based courses in other parts of the Australian National University in order to provide students with a variety of views and directions.
At the undergraduate level, students can complete minor courses in film and new media as part of their Bachelor of Arts degree.
The minor course of film and new media provides students with a wide range of options for learning film and new media. The minor course is based on a core course: Introduction to Film Research. In the first year, the course introduces film theory and film analysis to students, aiming to cultivate students' high-level film literacy. Students choose another 3 courses (18 credits) from a wide range of courses offered.
Art History and Curatorial Exhibition
The course covers many aspects, from former Australian aboriginal art and ancient classics to modern art, focusing on topics that can reflect specific trends and problems.
Major courses: Asian art and art history
Minor courses: curation, Asian art application experience: the collection of works should not be too concerned about the means of expression, whether it is computer rendering, modeling or hand painting, as long as it is properly used, it can achieve good results, the key is your own arrangements. In form, you can refer to other people's works properly, which may enlighten you. It is not necessarily a collection of works in this major. Different professional collections will give you some inspiration from different aspects. It is better to consider the background and interests of the people who look through your collection of works; On the other hand, everyone is different. We should develop our strengths and avoid weaknesses to show ourselves. The number or number of pages of the collection is never a problem, and you can decide for yourself. Note: quality is more important than quantity.
musical performance
Most music majors choose acting as their major or minor. The course can help students improve their music skills and self-cultivation, so as to deepen their understanding, through the form of overall formal performance or Solo. Students can choose specific genres, such as classical, jazz, contemporary music or country music, or combine multiple genres. In addition, there are other courses in the Conservatory of Music, such as master class, rehearsal and workshop, which can fully help students majoring in music performance learn.

Music theory major is an in-depth study of culture, history, or a certain historical period and music analysis. Students can learn music theory skills and enhance their ability to write music.
Composition and Sound Design
The major of composition and sound design teaches students the ability to create a collection of songs and works, as well as a series of theoretical principles. This major provides students with opportunities to practice creative works. Students will analyze a variety of musical instruments and sound works, and apply relevant theories and methods. Students will also learn about sound design about film and television music, drama, video games and sound devices.
