College Profile

Bard College Bard College, founded in 1860 and located in Annadale on Hudson, upstate New York, is one of the famous top liberal arts colleges in the United States. Bard College Originating from the holy church established by the Budds, it was originally called "St. Stephen's College", full of religious atmosphere. With the secularization of higher education at the end of the 19th century, theological education withdrew from the classroom, and school education began to favor scientific and humanistic knowledge, which gradually evolved into today's Bard College.

How about Bard College in the United States?

Bud College in the United States attaches great importance to liberal arts education, which can be called a bastion of anti tradition and rationalism. A student said: "The academics and professors here are very interesting. Those respected professors are willing to help students, and students also love their professors." Bard College ranked first among the best schools for classroom experience in the Princeton Review in 2015, which shows that the school's classroom atmosphere is very popular with students.

In addition to the top class experience, being able to live in Bud College is even more enjoyable. As a residential university, Bud College has an exquisite campus, which can meet the dual needs of students to focus on academic and enjoy life. The school is well arranged, with four distinct seasons and beautiful scenery, just like a paradise in the world. In particular, the various buildings with different styles of the school coexist harmoniously from the early buildings in 1860 to the concert hall with a very post-modern style, and most of these buildings were created by famous artists. For example, Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, which has attracted much attention since its birth, is the work of Frank Gary, a master architect. Leon Potestan, the current president of Bard College, once said, "If we want college graduates to become leaders in public affairs, then universities should expand their scope and make their campuses an important public space.". Under the guidance of this educational concept, the definition of learning in Bud College is diversified. Every weekend, there are numerous activities organized by students in the school - performances, garage bands, dances, dinner parties, club gatherings, etc. It is common to discuss so-called "academic" issues at parties, which will not be regarded as freaks.

Five global campuses of Bard College: Berlin, Germany, Paris, France, Cairo, Egypt, Kyoto, Japan, Seoul, South Korea; Other overseas study and exchange programs around the world, such as New York City, New Orleans, California, Massachusetts, etc.

Bard College and Columbia University Duke University's engineering project cooperation, double degree programs include: five-year economy+finance double degree programs; Five year music+art double degree program; Five year undergraduate and master program in economics; Five years of arts and arts education undergraduate and master program.

Art History

Through the close relationship between teachers and students, this course emphasizes and pays special attention to how students view and write art works. At the same time, the school also provides rich community activities. Adjacent to New York, it often takes students to see exhibitions in museums and exhibition halls in New York, providing rich opportunities to study visual arts and culture.

Film and Electronic Arts

The course does not tend to a fixed professional formula, nor is it purely technical knowledge, but to cultivate students' imagination and artistic touch. For example, students interested in narrative films need to design original scripts, shoot them, and finally edit them into the final form. Producers can learn anthropology, animation can learn oil painting, screenwriters can learn literature, and film critics can learn art history.

Photography

The Bard College Photography Program guides students throughout the process and provides a historical and aesthetic framework for their development. Each semester, students should complete a studio course, photography/art history, photography history, at least one advanced photography history, and another art history course, physics, light and color. The collection of works should show whether students can see and think in the way of photography, whether they can integrate emotions into photos, and whether they have the technical skills required for expression. In your senior year, you must complete at least 60 credits of courses, and have participated in photography studio courses and photography courses for two semesters.
