De Montfort University (De Montfort University, DMU for short), located in Leicester, East Midland, England, is a high-quality and innovative comprehensive university. Its predecessor was the Leicester School of Art, which was founded in 1870, and later developed into Leicester Colleges of Art and Technology, Leicester Polytechnic, and finally became the University of De Montfort. The university was named de Montfort in memory of Simon de Montfort, the former Earl of Leicester and the great man who established the first British Parliament in 1265 during the Middle Ages.
