Application process for art study abroad

Early stage of art study abroad

   1. Self assessment

Before you begin to prepare your application for art study abroad, you must consider your major, intended country and intended university. In terms of national choice, different majors have different popular colleges. While pursuing their own interests and intentions, they should also combine their own comprehensive ability and professional background.

   2. Professional evaluation

After completing the first step of self-evaluation, the study abroad consultant of Natural Light Arts will give professional suggestions based on the students' personal intentions and objective application conditions, and finally determine the major, country and art school to study abroad with the students.

   3. Make plans for studying abroad

The art study abroad consultant will arrange teachers for students according to their intentions, and set up a study abroad application team to formulate the most appropriate study abroad application plan for them. Which type of preparatory training do you choose for UK preparatory training?

Middle stage of art study abroad

   1. Preparation of art overseas works collection

As a student of art design, the collection of art works for studying abroad can be said to be the top priority of the whole application for studying abroad. Whether applying for undergraduate or master's degree, zero foundation students need to spend 6 to 12 months or more to prepare and produce their own collections of works.

   2. Language test

TOEFL IELTS is a mandatory requirement for studying abroad in the arts. The UK needs IELTS scores while the US needs TOEFL scores. The corresponding language achievement standards of each university are different. Generally speaking, most institutions in the UK need an IELTS score of no less than 6 points, while higher quality American institutions need a TOEFL score of more than 90 points. In terms of language examination, students can choose review and examination time according to their own conditions. The suggestion is to take the TOEFL IELTS test 1~2 years in advance.

   3. Background activity planning

In addition to the breakthrough of language and art collection, most overseas colleges and universities, whether in the United Kingdom, the United States or other countries, attach great importance to social practice, work experience and other artistic backgrounds besides students. The Natural Light Art Study Abroad Advisor will also arrange a series of social practice activities, internship opportunities and various competitions for students to improve their art professional background.

Later stage of art study abroad

   1. Application stage

The application cycle of most colleges and universities is about 2 to 3 months. During this period, Natural Light Arts Overseas Study Advisor will fully help students complete online application, document writing, portfolio submission and a series of application materials preparation. The professors from the other university will arrange an online interview if they are interested after receiving the portfolio. The Union of Natural Light Arts Overseas Student Admissions Officers will also arrange one-on-one mock interviews for students during this period.

   2. Accept offers and choose schools

After completing a series of applications, all colleges and universities will finally select the students to be admitted and offer them. After receiving the offer, students will finally choose the most suitable art school according to their own intentions and the suggestions of consultants and teachers and reply by email.

   3. Visa and preparation for going abroad

After receiving the admission notice from the university, students can go to the consulate to apply for an overseas visa. So far, the application process for art study abroad has been completed. Look forward to the arrival of the new semester and new life!

Time of each link of application for art study abroad

   Start time:

American colleges and universities open twice a year, mostly in autumn, usually in August and September. The specific opening time of each school is determined by itself. Some schools open in spring, mostly from January to March.

The official courses for undergraduate and graduate students in British universities are generally held in September and October each year, and there are many options for preparatory courses in January, April, September and October. The senior high school is generally in September and January of each year, and the British university has three semesters in each academic year, starting from October to December, January to March, and from the end of April to the beginning of May to June.

Preparation of art works for studying abroad:

Collection production is the most important part of applying for art study abroad, and it is also the most important way for art colleges to reflect students' professional ability. For students with zero foundation, it usually takes 12 months or more to plan their own works. Students with basic knowledge also need to spend 4-6 months to make it.

   Submit application materials:

American colleges and universities generally have two application seasons, spring and autumn. The application time in autumn is mostly up to the middle of December, and the application time in spring is up to about February, depending on the official website of the applicant school.

It is recommended to prepare the application for British colleges and universities one year in advance, and no later than July. Taking graduate students as an example, students who apply for admission in the autumn of 2016 can usually begin to prepare in June 2015. The latest application time is from April to May of the year when the school starts. There is no uniform deadline for application in British universities, which basically follows the principle of first come, first served and until the application is full. International students should reserve visa application time, usually 2-3 months before the start of school.

   Visa:

The visa cycle of the United States is affected by the appointment time of the embassy and consulate, the students' English level and psychological quality, and the cycle is between 1 and 3 months. The visa is prepared after receiving the admission notice from the school, which can be carried out 3 to 4 months before the start of school.

The UK visa normally takes 7 to 15 working days. The peak visa period may take about 8 weeks.
