Advanced Certificate Program
The Advanced Certificate Program of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music is a one-year or two-year program that focuses on private graduate level courses, performance classes, and humanities courses.
The Advanced Certificate is applicable to students who have obtained a bachelor's degree. It is designed as the entry point of the Master of Music degree program, and is applicable to those students who have not reached the minimum English level score of the Master of Music. The first year of the Advanced Certificate will be immersed in English learning to prepare for the entry into the Master of Music program from the second year. Students will complete their degree within two years by transferring credits from the Advanced Certificate academic year to the Master of Music degree. If students choose not to transfer to the Master of Music program, or they do not meet the English level requirements, then the second year of the advanced certificate program means to learn their instruments in depth through ensemble playing and playing opportunities.
The Advanced Certificate is also intended for students with a bachelor's degree who want to spend more time focusing on performing skills without all the academic requirements of a master's degree in music. Please note that access to advanced certificates is restricted. We strongly recommend that applicants first consider applying for the Master of Music program.
