Birmingham Academy of Arts originated in October 1843. At that time, the Birmingham Artists Association opened the Birmingham School of Government Design in accordance with the relevant regulations of the government. Ten years later, the school was renamed the Birmingham School of Government Decorative Arts.

In 1877, E R Taylor was appointed as the new president. Under the influence of his persistence and the rising number of students, Birmingham Parliament was persuaded to fund the establishment of a new art school. The Birmingham Academy of Arts was inaugurated in 1884. Located in Margaret Street, the teaching building is a Venetian Gothic building designed by John Chamberlain for universities. Today, Margaret Street is still the location of our art department and has been listed as a first-class protected building by the state. In the 1990s, the building was fully restored and renovated.

   Birmingham Business School

Business is one of the advantages of Birmingham City University.

The business school of the large-scale university has nearly 4500 full-time and part-time students.

Wide range of courses - The business school has a wide range of courses, covering almost all business courses, such as accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, human resource management and public relations.

High qualification - many of the university's business courses offer vocational qualification courses that can be accredited in the UK and internationally. For example: ACCA, CIM, CIB, etc.

Good employment – The university has been committed to carrying out student exchanges and encouraging students to practice, so as to make adequate preparations for students' employment. As an international university, we have close ties with many universities and research institutions around the world. For example, universities often carry out student exchanges with universities in the United States, the European Union, and Asia. The close connection with the industry and commerce makes the school pay more attention to the career development of students and provide some good internship opportunities for students. Let students not only learn knowledge, but also learn how to apply it, so as to truly "apply what they have learned". The experience learned by students through these opportunities will become a big weight in the future employment.
