Admission criteria for American art colleges

  1. Collection of Art Studied Abroad : To apply for an American art major, you need to provide works to the school. If the school has a requirement to mail a paper-based collection of works, it is better to make a plane atlas for majors such as painting, photography and design. It should be high-precision. Each collection of overseas art works should be equipped with a text description, and then other works stored in slides or DVDs can be built in.

Music professionals must record CDs, sing one song in Chinese, English and a third language, and then sing without music. Remember to record CDs for anti-counterfeiting certification, and then submit tape recordings to help the school not think that you are a computer. If you are composing music, remember to hand in the scanned copy, photocopy and recorded tape of the composition manuscript.

For dance and performance majors, we must make videos of our public performances and weighty performances on the spot, recorded by TV stations or schools, plus time codes, and send them to schools by express.

2. The weight of art study abroad collection: In fact, art study abroad collection is a reflection of your academic achievements, so American art majors pay more attention to art study abroad collection. Therefore, there are not many submitted works, but whether they are your most authentic expression. Never use other people's art collection for studying abroad. Even if you are the second creator, please note it. As for the work, if it is submitted to the school review committee, you don't have to worry about it. Many people will vote to decide your admission. If it is decided by a professional professor, it is recommended to contact the professor in advance, discuss the work, and reflect your thoughts to the professor.

3. GPA: The GPA of universities is a big part, but the professional evaluation is uncertain. Some schools are of little significance, not to mention that half of the students may come from Beijing and Guangzhou, China and the United States, or the art schools of some famous universities. Which school has no influence on the admission, and the ranking is not important. Try to get a decent score, which will not make the other school think you are ignorant and incompetent.

In fact, for art colleges, GPA requirements of different schools and different majors are different, and there are no special rules. Major like art management, art history and art education still need GRE. Other performance production majors have a high requirement of about 100 for TOEFL and a low requirement of about 71 for TOEFL. This is not because the ranking of schools is high, nor because they are art universities.

GPA requirements are generally 3.0 bottom line and 3.5 excellent, which is more important if the undergraduate is the major. It mainly depends on which course level is reflected by this score.

4. Recommendation letter: The professional influence of the recommender and the familiarity with the recommender are two conditions for selecting the recommender, and it is necessary to find a balance between them. For example, a Daniel who does not know himself is not suitable, and a teacher with insufficient professional quality is also not suitable. The best way is to find the best among the teachers who are familiar with themselves.

5. PS: PS mainly talks about the creative thinking and creative ability of your art overseas works collection. Don't be too miscellaneous, just talk about some directions of creation, and try to infiltrate humanistic thinking. It is better to focus on theoretical research, criticism, and analysis. It should be objective, not subjective, and not too avant-garde. It also depends on whether the research direction of the other professor is consistent with yours.
