Landscape design and urban design application experience in Britain and Australia
Natural light asks: classmate! Why did you think of applying for the UK and Australia at the same time? Have all the offers come down yet?
Liao replied: Because I heard that the British side is very strict this year, so after applying for several schools in the UK, four schools in Australia have been added. At present, two offers have been received from the Australian side, and two are waiting for the results. There are still several offers in the UK.
Natural light asks: How many items do you have in your portfolio? Can you tell us the contents of these projects respectively?
Liao replied that the first item I put in the collection was me When I went to Africa to teach as a volunteer, I made some improvements in a slum The main purpose is to help local residents, provide them with some employment opportunities, and how to use design to improve their living environment, including providing better medical services, to change the status of slums through these things.

Natural light asked: Why did you want to teach in Africa?
Liao replied: In fact, it was because of curiosity. At that time, I had just graduated from senior three and wanted to go to a different place. I happened to see a teacher in Africa who was recruiting to teach painting on the Internet. I thought I was more suitable, and then I passed.
Natural light asked: Do you think this experience of teaching in Africa has any impact and help on your portfolio, or your future design?
Liao replied: Yes, because of that experience, I will More consideration of vulnerable groups That is to say, designers should not only think about how to enjoy the upper class people in the society, how to have a better and higher quality life, but also Pay attention to the vulnerable groups in society and think about how to improve their lives.
Landscape design is actually a very comprehensive discipline, because it is the connection between people and space, It needs to consider the humanities, environment, aesthetics, practicality and other aspects Designers are not tools for drawing drawings behind closed doors. They should have some thinking ability of science and engineering, such as mechanics, structure and technology. They should also know a lot of historical and humanistic knowledge, and have sensitive and delicate feelings in humanistic aspects. Only in this way can they have a unique starting point to observe and think about problems. Liao learned the value of architectural design to the society by paying attention to the humanities and learning more new things.
Like natural light, it has been done twice “the Shelter” This project is a practical project for the teachers and students of natural light in Dagou Village, five hours away from the urban area of Chengdu. It is a shelter for aborigines and tourists in the harsh environment. Now these two small buildings have become the most practical places for local herdsmen to rest. They have a rest around the fire pot in cold weather and share their stories. When night falls, it becomes the most beautiful place to watch the stars.
After participating in the project, students have their own feelings, such as being free from the shackles of the city and experiencing the feeling of living in nature; Built by hand, experienced a practical process of implementing the ideal design on the drawings; Give back the satisfaction and satisfaction of the society with design. Project 2: Collection of Urban Design Works

It is a design of urban structure based on the particularity of the terrain, and also has the function of storing rainwater.

The design of this transformation is to use its existing conditions to launch a solution with high implementation. After the renovation of the old site, Qide Airport can meet the needs of different age groups and income groups and bring a lot of commercial value. Then ecological green space was added to improve the environment and create a harmonious environment between man and nature.
Project 4: Landscape Design Works Collection Project
The fourth project is A medical landscape transformation was made for West China Hospital in Chengdu The design is mainly to optimize the hospital and the surrounding ecological environment through green space. Then the plants will choose some safe and healing plants. With the change of the seasons, the color of the plants will change significantly, and the plants also have a fragrant smell. Such an activity place can let patients feel the changes of the seasons in nature through the subtle senses of vision, smell, touch, etc, Alleviate psychological or physical discomfort caused by disease.
When I choose projects, I tend to choose some social hotspots It refers to the issues concerned by the society and the public, such as medical problems and the problems of vulnerable groups, Then combine your own experience to design.
Project 5: Field investigation report of architectural design

The whole city leans on the boulder, because there is a special cliff landscape that also attracts many tourists. Then there is another ethnic group called Naxi, who moved here because of the complex terrain and environment. My reserch includes elements that affect architecture such as its formation reason and history.
The natural light asks: Are the topics of the works all my own? Or discussed with the teacher? Did you encounter any difficulties during this period?
All topics were discussed with the teacher. I didn't seem to encounter any difficulties when I was working on the collection, If you have any doubts, you should communicate with Mr. Deng in time and solve them quickly.
Natural light asks: Do you think there is any difference between the work done in the Academy of Fine Arts and the collection of works?
Well, there are differences, mainly The emphasis must be different What the school teaches is that students' works should be more realistic, which means that your design should be more practical. However, when making works in natural light, we need to do things that are more futuristic, have a sense of design, and make the works look more "tall".
