After graduating from Tokyo Foreign Studies University in 1963, he became an editor of Modern Eyes, a literary journal, and began to write a large number of words related to photography.

Later, he began to take photos under the introduction of photographer Tomatsu Lighting, and actively participated in the student movement and political struggle of Japan's new left wing in the 1960s.

In 1968, when the global academic movement was booming and the social struggle was fierce, Zhongping Zhuoma established the photography group Provoke, put forward the photography declaration of "launching a provocation for ideas" and published a publication of the same name. His lifelong friend and old enemy Senshan Avenue also joined in the second issue.

Although Provoke only published three issues, it redefined the direction of modern Japanese photography and cut a deep fissure in the history of Japanese photography, which affected the development of Japanese photography in the future.

Zhongping Zhuoma, who was constantly in a state of "resistance" (against the mainstream, and against his own resistance), struggled to find a more direct photographic language in the mid-1970s, almost forcing himself into a dead end.

In 1977, Zhongping Zhuoma, 39 years old, once died of acute alcoholism, and his wandering on the death line caused serious memory loss and expression disorder.

After he was admitted to the hospital, he was called "the man who became a camera" in the long and endless recovery life, because in addition to taking pictures with a camera every day, he took pictures with a camera every day.
