What is the world ranking of Alto University? Alto University ranks 109th in the 2024QS World University Ranking. The Times Higher Education (THE) ranked 201 among the world's most international universities in 2024; ARWU ranks 301 in 2023. Alto University ranks 273 among the best universities in the world.


Alto University has performed well in international university rankings. In the ranking of specific disciplines, we ranked sixth in the world in the field of art and design, and also ranked among the top 100 in several other disciplines.

Alto University offers various degrees in the following research fields, such as bachelor's, master's, doctor's and dual degree programs; Art and design, business and economy, technology and engineering. Alto University offers 108 English courses for international students. The six schools in Alto carry out scientific research, artistic activities and teaching.


Aalto University (hereinafter referred to as Aalto), located in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is an ancient and innovative Nordic famous institution of higher learning and one of the members of the Nordic Five University Alliance.


The history of Alto University can be traced back to the establishment of Helsinki University of Technology in 1849. Later, it was merged by Helsinki University of Technology, Helsinki University of Art and Design and Helsinki School of Economics in 2010. More than half of Finland's engineers are from Alto University, focusing on education and research in engineering and technology, design and business.


The name of Alto University is to honor and commemorate Alva Alto, a world-famous Finnish architect who has made great contributions to science, technology, economy and art. The current president is Professor Ilkka Niemel ä, an outstanding expert in the field of computer and artificial intelligence in the world.
