The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has topped the 2024QS global ranking list for the 12th consecutive year. Cambridge University is still in the second place in the world, and Oxford University is one place higher than last year, ranking third in the world. The top ten were selected by four American universities, four British universities, one Swiss university and one Singapore university.
Ranking of American Universities
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology of the United States continues to make history, and has been the leader of QS comprehensive platoon for 12 consecutive years.
Harvard University ranked fourth, followed by Stanford University, Berkeley, California and Cornell University The number of the former rose significantly from 27 last year to Top 10, while the latter rose directly from 20 to 12.
California Institute of Technology and Yale University tied for 15 places, and Los Angeles, California, a public university, finally entered the Top 30.
UK University Rankings
Cambridge University is still firmly seated at the top of the UK. Behind it are Oxford University, the sixth Imperial College and the ninth University College London.
University of Manchester It fell out of the top 30 and ranked 32nd.
Australian University Rankings
The University of Australia is the biggest winner of this ranking standard reform. Not only all the eight major universities in Australia have entered the top 100 in the world, but also the University of Science and Technology of Sydney has made great efforts to catch up with the world's top 100, ranking 90 in the world.
In the top 100, the University of Melbourne went from 33 to 14, becoming the first university in Australia. Once Sydney University of New South Wales Ranked out of the top 40, now it has changed and entered Top20 together with the University of Sydney!
Australian National University ranked 34th. Monash University and the University of Queensland ranked 42 and 43, ranking among the top 50 universities. The University of Western Australia rose to 72, and the University of Adelaide ranked 89 in the world's top 100.
Ranking of Canadian Universities
The University of Toronto has returned to Canada's top 1, ranking 21st in the world, up 13 places, McGill University ranked 30th in the world, and the University of British Columbia rose 13 places to 34th place compared with last year.
Asian University Rankings
Singapore's two institutions remain strong. The National University of Singapore ranked eighth in the top ten again this year, becoming a dark horse. Nanyang Technological University dropped slightly to 26th place compared with last year.
Four Japanese universities have entered the world's top 100. The University of Tokyo ranked 28, Kyoto University 46, Osaka University 80, and Tokyo University of Technology 91.
Five universities in South Korea have entered the top 100 in the world. Seoul University ranks first in South Korea and 41st in the world. The Korean Academy of Science and Technology ranked 56, Yonsei University 76, Korea University 79, and Pohang University of Science and Technology advanced to 100, ranking 100.
The number of mainland Chinese universities in this list ranks third in the world, with 71 universities on the list, second only to the United States (199) and the United Kingdom (91). Peking University ranks 17th in the world, the second highest in Asia. Tsinghua University ranks 25th in the world and the third highest in Asia.
In Hong Kong, China, there are still five colleges and universities in the top 100 this year, but because of the changes in ranking standards, there is a slight decline compared with last year. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University still ranked 65th, and the University of Hong Kong dropped 5 places, but it still ranked 26th in the world, 47th in Chinese Hong Kong, 60th in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, 65th in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and 70th in the City University of Hong Kong.
European University Rankings
The ranking of Europe is relatively stable. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich rose 2 places to 7 places and still ranked among the top 10 in the world, the Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne ranked 36 places, and the University of Zurich ranked 91 places.
Paris University of Arts and Sciences ranked 24th, Paris Institute of Technology rose 10 places to 38th, and Sorbonne University ranked 59th.
Germany's Munich University of Technology rose 12 places to 37th, Munich University rose 5 places to 54th, Heidelberg University and Berlin Free University ranked 87th and 98th respectively.
Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and Amsterdam University also rose, ranking 47 and 53 respectively.
The Royal Swedish Institute of Technology and Lund University also made remarkable progress, ranking 73rd and 85th respectively.
