How about MIT's major in art and science? In order to promote the integration of today's art field and science and technology, MIT has gathered the advantages of colleges and universities and top teaching teams to establish the Center for Art, Science and Technology/Arts, Science and Technology Center (CAST). The purpose of MIT to establish this center is to support the integration of art into core courses and provide a complete interdisciplinary curriculum plan of new materials, media and technology for the development of art.

The Center for Arts, Science and Technology (CAST) connects the fields of arts, science and technology through cooperation with various departments, laboratories and centers in the college in four main fields. In order to integrate core theories into the whole curriculum, CAST has developed a series of interdisciplinary courses covering various disciplines and majors.

Since the founding of CAST in 2013, a total of 16 courses have been developed, most of which belong to unique interdisciplinary fields to study topics that cannot be solved in the future or at this stage. One of the most eye-catching topics is the course Paranormal Machines (21A. S01)/supernatural machinery developed last autumn semester.

MIT's Art and Science course focuses on technical strategies for detecting and measuring supernatural phenomena, from traditional divination to today's phantom electromagnetic field calculation. This course introduces anthropological research on supernatural beliefs in different cultures, and explores art as a way to change senses (such as blurred images, hearing, hallucinations, and emotional orientation) and generate abnormal experiences.

In combination with seminar discussions and studio courses, students are encouraged to create their own interactive supernatural works through scientific methods.

CAST Course - Cinematic Migrations

In addition to these pioneering fields, CAST also focuses on exploring solutions to problems encountered at the current stage in art disciplines, such as products, architecture, landscape, etc., by means of scientific and technological intervention, such as super scale product design, building automation, sound design, landscape experience design, etc.

CAST Course - Cross scale Design

In order to enrich and encourage students' artistic cooperation, CAST uses MIT Massachusetts Institute of Technology We are looking for visiting artists from different fields to cooperate with students around the world and try to incorporate the cooperation projects into the ongoing research and teaching at MIT.

CAST Course - Exhibition Science

In order to encourage the experimental stage of artistic creation, CAST has provided creative seed funds and research grants for teachers, graduate students, post doctors, etc. who promote the development of the art and science fields. In order to share this creative work with the public, CAST regularly holds symposiums, exhibitions and publications on multiple media platforms.

For our study at this stage, the essence of art design is the process of finding and solving problems. Science and technology can help us to show inspiration and creativity reasonably and effectively. We can take science and technology as design elements, and try to spread our thinking around the theme as much as possible. Expanding the extension and depth of the project from the different stages of theme, material and performance can enable the college to see our forward-looking professional concept and control ability of art and technology, and help us complete a collection of works that are "eye-catching" enough. The development of art and design is getting further and further along the road of science and technology, and it also selects several directions for our creation and life. The boundaries of art are constantly expanding, and we should not stop!
